I am more excited for this season than I was last season.

Really? How truthful is that statement? You can't tell me you weren't paying any attention when Steve Smith left for Baltimore and his first game against Charlotte he went for 2 TDs in a 38-10 trouncing.

I followed 89 when he left.  Honestly, I even followed Jake to a degree.   Jake was kinda weird follow but I still did it.

If Cam plays this year, I'll 100% watch his games.   I would wager most hardcore fans will follow Cam.   Everyone is going to want to know the answer.

I'm kinda excited about the Rhule staff and seeing what is what.  Hard to get super excited until we get a new QB to be excited over.  Teddy doesn't bring that factor to the equation for me.

We have arguably the most interesting coaching situation in the league with Rhule and Brady.  Super young team, it's really exciting.  There may be growing pains but we could be really fun to watch.

Joe Brady using CMC, Moore, Robby, & Samuel should be interesting.

The defense with this new DL in Weatherly, Burns, Brown, Short, Gross-Matos is easily the most excited I've been about that unit since Fox days.  We never really had a stellar DL under Rivera just a good overall defense (at times).  I also won't discount Kerr, Christian Miller and that big Baylor guy in Roy.

OL, TE and LBs are works in progress...

DB is another super interesting spot with Chinn, Boston, Burris, Robinson, Jackson, Pride, Apple, & Tommy-Olives making a fast/young core.  Not an Apple fan but whatevs.

I hope all the young guys get a ton of playing time so we both get them to improve and also get the top pick. It’s fine to be excited about the young guys in the secondary and DL. I am, but I’m tempering expectations for this year. I know that even Brown will have growing pains and guys like Pride, Chinn, YGM and Robinson are going to have a lot of growing pains and may not play that much.

I was there. It broke my heart. I hate being at road losses more than anything.

Yes, that's me recognizing so many Panthers fans would be interested, as stated in the first sentence. So I posted it. I would also post Cam's gameday shoes and such, another thing I never cared about but knew others did.

a video of a washed up baltimore raven telling local media that he’s not retiring isn’t something i would find without going out of my way for it but personally i never really follow a player when they leave carolina

I’ll be glad for the nfl period or any sports

anything other than what awaits us in this election year.

doubt fans will be in the stadiums and frankly I won’t cry getting my money back for this year. I’ve seen plenty of sub 500 teams from the Panthers. Glad to sit one season out in front of the TV for the first time in 18 years

I'm curious to see the approach of the new staff and the systems they're going to install. I'd be lying if I said I expect more than 4-5 wins though. I'm cautiously optimistic about the future, but I expect a steep NFL learning curve from the staff and young talent, especially given this year's unique off-season preparation.

I think you just want to see some glimmer of hope in all the losses. Say, flashes from some of the young guys that show we have a good core or really battling and playing hard even though we are obviously less talented.

That is what I am going to gauge "success" as next year.

The writing had been on the wall for a long ass time about the old regime. Everyone knew it would be another year of more of the same. Mediocre football at best, 2015 being the anomaly. Sure, we tried to be optimistic, but deep down we knew.

Now, we have no idea what to expect and that is exciting. Instead of old players on the decline, we have younger players on the rise. It is a totally different feel and I dig it.

Anywho, just wanted to post some optimism.

I do believe there will be a season. I do believe it will be fun as hell to watch.

Love,

JI

Love the optimism!!  I am very excited given the circumstances!!

    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
    • At least we don't need to hear overreacting about towels ...
    • Actually there is, try being a Charlotte Hornets fan. I mean the team fuging moved at its peak and hasn't recovered since and that was 25 years ago
