KK [Short] looks like he's in fantastic shape. He's 315 pounds. I think he's done a really good job of putting himself in position to have a special year.

Quote

Rhule also mentioned that linebacker Shaq Thompson and kicker Graham Gano are both back and "look healthy

Also mentioned the injury to Palarady, but is really high on Charlton

Quote

He got a big, big, big leg and he has elite hangtime. He just has the leg to do it and he's got the ability, so have to provide him the right environment so he can get confident. We're confident that he has all the tools to do this

I'm excited to see Short and Brown play next to each other this year.

Four posts and no one poo talking Short or bitching about him not being cut????

That has to be a 2020 record.

I am also looking forward to seeing how Brown and Short work together. I don't think Short is operating on an empty tank at all.

No point in cutting him if it doesn’t save any money. That’ll be next year. Short is paid like a lineman who doesn’t need help. But he does. He needed Star. And he will need Brown. He hasn’t been worth his contract in any measurable metric such as stats, or compared to the players making around the the same amount. Same with Shaq.

That’s a pretty good reason to bitch, as stupid contracts have been a prime reason the franchise has failed time after time, with no back to back winning seasons in almost 30 years, only teams like the Browns have those kinds of records. Tying up money on worthless players. The Panthers are still paying M Kalil.

And that was when he was healthy, now a big guy coming back from a big injury...I’ve seen this play out over and over. If he overachieves this year and has help from Brown, he’ll be average.

Good enough for you? :)

Hell yeah, that is the kind of irrational whining I am accustomed to. That's the spirit.

This is silly, all linemen need help and none do it alone.

You left out "uninformed" as well. It took the Falcons well over 30 years to have back-to-back winning seasons. And besides, I'd take three straight division championships and guaranteed playoff berths over two 9-7 seasons without the playoffs.

Player gets fat contract that seems overpaid. Fan noticed a trend with their favorite team.

Player underperforms and by other players salaries looks to be an extremely overpaid contract that will inhibit fan’s favorite team’s ability to build a competitive team.

Fan points the facts out. Fan is labeled as whining.

There are more dominant lineman the league who can move around the line or even go to a different team and preform pretty well. Not turn to utter garbage because because one of their teammates got traded. You’ll find these lineman in the salary range of KK.

If you took the Browns comment literally, yea. Also I don’t want to be the Falcons. You’ll take 7-9 season and one and done playoff seasons over a winning one? That’s basically just hoping the rest of the NFCS sucks enough so we can get in and declaring the wild card our super bowl. I think Rivera has this mindset too tbh. No thanks.

Like I said you all can get butthurt all you want but production and salary matter. It’s crippled this team. Go and compare KK to the rest of the league, I already have.

Sure, hope he comes back from injury, hope he used his time off to learn how to play without a NT taking up 2 blockers on every play. Hope he plays to his contracts worth. That’s fine hope all you want, I hope for those things too. But don’t act like he’ll be a force, and ignore the facts. Ignore the fact his contract has hurt the team. Ignore that’s been a trend in the franchise that needs to end. That’s all fans ever did with JR for whatever reason, complacency with mediocrity. Least Cam never did that.

Highly inaccurate. Name a player not on a rookie deal that makes less and is better than KK.  KK is ranked 17th among D lineman. I feel that is about right.

Ranked 17th by who? There's no way that KK has been one of the top 20 defensive linemen in the NFL over the past couple of years. He looks average out there to be honest. I'd love to see him bounce back, but his age says it's unlikely. He's almost certainly on the downside of his career at this point.

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
