This is good to hear.

It would be nice to hear it from less of a loose cannon/head case than Jackson, but I’ll take it for now.

loose cannon/head case is less likely to trot out some company PR line though

There’s a significant portion of this here forum who fetishize and get happy in their pants about Company Men in short-sleeve white shirts, bow-ties, and pocket protectors.

Just now, Smithers said:

This was well known before we signed him.  I’m excited about Teddy.  Most of this board Has done nothing but criticize him - but he’s always been known as an amazing person who people gravitate towards.

Except the Jets lololololllll

I think many/most have just been objective about the average, if not pedestrian, level of performance he's shown during his time on the field. Those same fans hope he is successful but it's just a bland and uninteresting move at the QB position during a time of much organizational change.

Isn't it a good thing in team sports to have a single unified message throughout the team and have everyone buy fully into it?

    • My point exactly. Does that mean they have a poor offense? Of course not. That is why cherry picking stats without context rarely results in an accurate and fair assessment.
    • Lotta football to go, and a lot of things can change.  Team health makes a huge difference down the road.  The big thing is and will be getting a rhythm.  2015 and 2013 are great examples.  That said, while we have a schedule, we dont really know who we're gonna play past a few weeks from now and by that I mean, like, end of october we're scheduled to play The Buffalo Bills...but between now and then, what if theres an injury to Josh Allen or just suffer a rash of injuries to any position group really.  Lots can change honestly and after 3 weeks, we're healthier than we were last year after week 3 with our only serious injuries to Hunt and Corbett (who...sorry the guy got injured, but Mays continues to outplay him).  the other injuries are short term return situations with JT Sanders, XL, and Coker.
    • I get a lot more than you. Scheme dictates average yards per play for example. If you run a lot like Philly your average yards per play will go down versus a team that passes all the time. And if you only play 3 games  then one outlier like Jacksonville holds more weight than it should. Plus yards per play doesn't correlate to wins for example versus effectiveness in the red zone. So yeah I get it and know that stats like yards per game much like yards per play have little correlation with wins and loses and the final score is the only thing that matters at the end of the day not some BS cherry picked stat.
