Street names around the new HQ

I remember when I built a manufacturing facility, and the President of the company we were working for wanted to name the new road in front of the facility after his father.  The problem was twofold.  For one, while it was technically new road...it was an extension of existing road.  That would mean the city would need to change the name of the entire road.  That brought up the second problem.  The existing road was named after a black leader from the community, as a tribute.  The politics of changing the name to some old dead white guy would have been horrible.  So what we ended up doing was putting the start of the road out of alignment with the existing road, giving it a weird jog but allowing the city to declare it technically a different road and not an extension of the previous road.  Problem solved!

Who cares so much about road names. They could all be named peepee and poopoo for all I care

Oh trust me, you would care. I've spent enough time in Hickory to know that after your forty eleventh time trying to figure out if you're supposed to be on peepee street or peepee lane, or is it peepee avenue, you'd care.

Maybe not til then, but still....

In regard to the family names in the rural areas, it's not so much families naming it after themselves, but literally that was the road that went to the Jones property so it was called Jones Road.  I saw a really old map of Rowan County from the mid to late 1800's and they had individual homesteads located on the county wide map. That's how few people there were in the county when they were naming roads, so it made since to name it after the family that was at the end of the road.

Keep Pounding Way is a great slogan for football but a terrible street name.

Tepper Way is cringeworthy in itself but given the football context, doesn't sound like a winner yet.

I think the picture of Teppers taste is becoming a little more clear.
