Does this team have less talented players than the 2010 team?

Well, we're better off at quarterback.

Overall though, oy :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

Agreed.  Moore + Clausen was the worst qb year we have ever had imo.  That led to a miserable season where any deficit felt insurmountable.

This team may be worse off if you go position by position.  But even average qb play will keep them more competitive than 2010.

I don’t think it’s that bad. We just don’t have developed talent at the right positions.

But Moore, CMC, Burns, Brown, Chinn, Yetur, Moton, Donte, even KK should all be fine players.

We don’t have talent in positions that elevate the rest of the roster like QB, MLB, and CB apparently since Donte isn’t stepping up.

We really need an upgrade at center too.

The only place I disagree with you is with KK. Look, Short was a great talent, and still can be. However you're asking a guy on the wrong side of 30 to be an every down contributor a year removed from a major injury, with no depth behind him.

I think he can return to form, and be a good player, but this isn't the place for him right now with the amount of snaps he'll be forced to take. He's not part of the next Super Bowl run, and it's probably time to take our lumps and trade him at the deadline for a potential piece that can.

And people wonder why I wanted Grier starting and saving cap. This was the year to tank by starting Grier. Would have been as bad as Clausen without having a decent OL. Easy pickings for the top pick.

I do understand what you're saying, but I believe the choice was two fold: First of all Teddy is a great mentor for a future QB. He's a perfect student of the game. Secondly the team has to draw at least some attention to keep fans engaged and prospective FA, and Teddy keeps them from being too big of a dumpster fire.

I will pose this..if the roster is so much worse why are the Panthers playing 100% better than the 2010 squad.

Could it be the coaching?

I know John Fox lame duck yada yada but 2010 was 60 minutes of pain every Sunday with no glimmer of hope. 2020 has not been near as dreadful.

The Lame duck thing is what did ys in that year

Unsure about talent only two games in but 2010 is going to be really hard to top (or bottom). Owner who was intentionally going cheap because of an impending lockout, a lame duck coach who didn't give a damn and depressing QB play that would've made Teddy look like a savior. The team basically gave up on the 2010 season long before it started. We might still be as bad this time but there's a lot more chances for something good to come out of it.

Idk, I remember that year, and we were bad, but the team still had talent.

For everyone that says our 2010 defense was so much better, you have short memories.  In 2011, which had almost the exact same players as 2010 our defense ranked liked 27th.  If anyone can remember that long ago we went into Detroit, it was was Stafford's like 2nd or 3rd year in the league.  We had  a 2 TD lead at halftime.  We lost that game 49 - 35.  We did not have a good defense in 2010.

At least in 2010 the team knew it needed to tank for Luck even though he ended up staying in school. Cam went off his lone year at Auburn and made that #1 pick very easy and the rest is history.

Fast forward 10 years and I have no fuging idea what this team is trying to accomplish. So glad we gutted the roster on to waste a ton of cap space on a bunch of jags. fuging dumpster fire.

I think that Matt Rhule is trying hard to motivate and "Coach em up". It is how he got his wins at Baylor and Temple. He is good at taking average to below average guys and have them overachieve. It works in college, but in there NFL you need actual talent. The talent that we have is youthful and lacks the experience that is needed to get the wins that will come in future years.
