Marty Hurney would have drafted Herbert

And Burrow spent most of his college career struggling to beat out QBs.

Are you talking about before he had the statistically best year of any college QB, went undefeated, won a national championship, won heisman and was considered the number one overall pick halfway through the season?

Agreed...I know this QB class is very highly regarded so I definitely wouldn't advocate passing up any of the top 3...but at the same time, I'd prefer we build up as much of our supporting roster as possible before we draft our presumed franchise QB.  I want us to maximize his talent while he's on his rookie contract, rather than drafting him and watching him get beat up behind a poor o-line or losing 35-31 shootouts behind a poor defense.  Then getting maybe one or two good playoff seasons in contention before having to pay his hefty second contract.

They didn't just drop Mahomes behind a leaky line and make him work to offset one of the worst defenses in the league. They put the toolbox together first.

I took a beating around here for saying dont take a nose tackle this high.... if your not a qb,qb protector and or destoryer im not interested in taking you top 7(generational talents excluded). The guy was always a pure nose...those who seem to think he was gonna develop into some pass rusher I want to have a word with..

Has he been awful? I dont think so.. has he been good or made a huge impact? Same answer. I wanted Simmons but it sounds like he is struggling as well

Simmons basically got benched. We got the more productive version of Simmons in the 2nd round. That was my big knock on Simmons though, it might take him a while to learn to play in the NFL, considering Clemson didn't really play him at a true position.

This.

Listen folks. We had a really weird training camp and zero preseason. Anyone jumping to any conclusions based on the first TWO GAMES of anyones rookie year is just silly.

That said, Jeremy Chinn is a future hall of fame player.

Was the oldest damn kid on the field every week and still older than a lot of the young QBs in the NFL. Good for him for being a grown man playing against some college kids.

Keep reaching. He isn’t the first 23 year old, won’t he the last. Sounds like more players should sit out one year by transferring because it makes you the top player in the draft and you get paid? Nonsense...

    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
