He was actually replaced by their former 3rd round pick.

Splitting atoms.  So good of a pick he was Behind Mullens on the depth chart but out played him in the final frame.

He wouldn't beat out any QB on our roster.

The thought of him backing up Bridgewater gives me a warm fuzzy feeling about as good as J. Clausen backing up Cam.

Lol, Mullens is NOT Kyle Allen.  Allen throws the ball well but has absolutely no ball security and possibly the worst pocket awareness I have ever seen.  And I was very vocal about my lack of belief in Allen very early on.

Whether you personally ever liked Kyle Allen or not...your argument actually does an incredible job validating all those people who were pounding the Kyle Allen drum last year to replace Cam.  Kyle Allen had a very strong debut against the Cardinals last year which led to people jumping the gun, speculating about whether he could end up as Cam's replacement if we eventually were to move on from him.  I mean that's exactly what you just did here...Mullens had one decent game in his first start and you're already proposing we consider bringing him in as Teddy's replacement in 2 years or whatever.  Predictably, he fizzled out spectacularly in his second start.

No arguments about Allen's ball security and pocket awareness here....but are you seriously contrasting that with Mullens?  Mullens threw 3 interceptions and fumbled the ball 3 times in 2.5 games...and took 8 sacks!  That's about as bad as it gets when it comes to ball security and pocket awareness.  Sounds like Allen and Mullens are actually pretty damn similar after all.

Hell, the cherry on top is you admitting your driving motivator with this thread was to "stick it to the Teddy bros".  How many Kyle Allen "fans" last season were really just trying to "stick it to the Cam nut huggers" or w/e...probably half of them, at least.  Good job stooping to their level of pettiness.

Fixed it for you.

Mind explaining how the shell of Mike Wallace, a rookie Stefon Diggs, and OTs consisting of Matt Kalil & TJ Clemmings consists of being carried?

Don't forget, the Vikings lost their starting center to the IR-R to start the season as well.

While you present many good points, it's not the same at all, imo.  People hitching their wagons to Allen after some semi-good showings to replace a former MVP and a generational talent who had trouble with injuries is not the same as presenting Mullens as a contingency plan depending on what happens with a career game manager in Teddy.  There are some similarities in the reasoning as you presented, I suppose...  but again, Teddy isn't a proven gamechanger like Cam was.  Cam deserved respect and reverence.  Teddy has not done anything to earn the same to this point.

And furthermore, I was not presenting a "hot take" based off one start this season...  Mullens started and played well his rookie season, and imo, looked better than Kyle Allen did.  He was a rookie.  That was the impressive experience I was referring to.  He was so impressive that Shanahan elevated him above their former 3rd round pick in Beathard moving on from that season..  He looked solid his first start this season as well, and then he shat the bed Sunday Night.  And now, this thread has become something else...  and okay, even if I was admittedly and lightheartedly sticking it to over-enthusiastic Teddy Bros with the creation of this thread, the uninformed trolling that has persisted since Sunday Night, all with the intention of sticking it to me for supposedly anointing Mullens the next Tom Brady, has been more than enough retribution lol.

This is ridiculous.

Again, Icege, I've watched Teddy since college.  Closely.  He manages games.  Period.  He doesn't win games, he just doesn't lose them.

Now, maybe he becomes more than that here and in this system, but I'm not backing off of the idea that he was mostly a cog in a much bigger machine in Minny.  He wasn't the reason they were winning games, but he wasn't the reason they were gonna lose any.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
