It's not hate dude just high standards because we have been spoiled with Morgan/Weatherspoon/Davis/Beason/Kuechly over the years.... heck I'd say Draft and Anderson were better than Shaq too...  That and he is being outplayed by our rookie converted safety....

Shaq is on pace for 128 tackles, more than Morgan/Witherspoon/Davis/Beason has ever had in one season.  I don't understand why people can't accept that Shaq is a really good LB.

It's a good thing alot of these people are not Gm's who are constantly calling for Marty's head.

Pay Bradburry for what was he going to help with horrid run defense from last season. Yes he did well against Julio Jones and Mike Evans but he struggled against speedy, shifting receivers.

Shaq has been all over the field this season making tackles. A big reason for our defense having a resurgent.

Hurney 2.0 has been fine at Gm he was hindered the past two seasons by Cam injuries and Rivera's coaching. Now we'll seeing a roster with a coaching staff that utilizes its personnel to the fullest.

Brutal

I will never forgive him for what he did during his first stint. Trading away first round picks for mediocre second round players is unforgivable. Add in his outrageous contracts including Dwill and Stew. He shouldn’t be allowed to call himself a GM. Maybe a first round draft guru.

Shaq is one of the top tacklers every game, I don't understand the hate for him. He is ant outside linebacker and not as good as Luke obviously but he is still a hell of a LB. Just don't expect Luke or even prime Davis level performance as they were unreal.

I don’t know how that people hate him. I think most of us feel he’s overpaid for his production.

The best pre-Rhule move he made was getting Davis last year. The Shaq and Boston contracts are on him and not Rhule. All indications are that Douglas came from P Stewart and Rhule was Anderson. Was Hurney involved? Probably but how much when the connections are very obvious.

I still think he is the last stink in the building left from JR. Even with his upside I would rather pursue someone else. We have done very well with new staff and their connections, way ahead of the curve. Why not one more? Hurney burnt his bridges with me a long time ago, I will celebrate when he is gone the 2nd time just like I did the 1st time.

Yes

His draft picks since he's been back has left us thin.

The Moton contract situation has me nervous claiming they havnt even spoke about it.

His FA signings havnt been good (yes, Robby Anderson has been a Stud.  That was on Rhule as you recall Anderson Publicly praising Rhule when he got the job here and talked like he wanted to play with him)

Boston and Whitehead are his 2 big signings this year and they are arguably our 2 biggest weaknesses on the team.

As far as I can tell, the one offseason that has been a huge success is the exact same one that saw a complete overhaul of the front office that included new head coach, scouts, and director of player personnel that heavily influenced free agency.

Coincidence? Probably not.

If Hurney is kept around merely to scout the 1st round draft pick, I am totally on board with that.

For me, it is a mix of good and bad still.

Good:

Signing and retaining Mike Davis last season/offseason
Stashing Bonnafon on IR to prevent him from being sniped
Drafting Brown, Chinn, and YGM
Cutting ties with Gano
Trading for Okung
Teddy Bridgewater, Robby Anderson, Rasul Douglas, keeping Obada around, and John Miller
Cutting Olsen

Bad:

McCaffrey's extension (the timing of it)
The way the Cam situation was handled
Not pursuing better help in the DB market (a multitude of different things from re-upping Boston, cutting Reid, etc.)
Continued neglect/inadequate attention on the OL

Burris is an upgrade over Reid at that position, much better cover safety.

Hurney's a lot better at this whole deal than people give him credit for. He gets quality free agents, he drafts well (great in the first round) and his contract work has been improving. And he's had an active hand in recruiting/signing our last three head coaches, two of which made it to the Superb Owl. And I sure get the feeling Rhule will get us there, too.

The one thing he hasn't been able to do as well, I think, is retain coordinators from our winning teams. It's a pretty common problem around the league, but good coordinators got poached out from under Fox and Rivera, and both suffered greatly from it as the years went on. Rhule seems to have some really, really talented ones and we've just got to hope we can hold them in the fold for a few years.

The Mike Davis signing last year should give people pause about always jumping to conclusions.  How many people were saying last year and during the offseason that they couldn't believe we gave this JAG a 2 year/$6 million contract?  And they couldn't believe again that dumba$% Hurney didn't cut him in the offseason to save that money.

Literally the only thing that turned the Davis pickup from a terrible signing to a great signing was the fact that CMC got injured and the coaching staff was actually forced to play him.  Is that on Hurney?  Kind of begs the question, how many other signings could have been viewed differently if they weren't rotting away on the bench due to a coaching staff that was notorious for horrible talent recognition?
