Vikings Firesale?

The Vikings have traded Yannick Ngakoue for a 3rd and 5th round picks just months after sending a 2nd and 5th for him. The Vikings are going nowhere this year or in the near future. The Vikings organization is about to be in cap hell, and no way out of that Cousins contract. Is todays trade the start of a firesale?  If so, i wonder what they would ask in return for Kendricks? That guy would solve our MLB issue quickly!

Id be eyeing Kyle Rudolph.

Not a elite TE, but would sure as he11 help us in the redzone

They also have the youngster Irv Smith from Alabama, but doubt they trade him. He us the kind of young, cheap talent they need to keep. Maybe they look to trade Thielen?

I doubt it’s a fire sale. They traded for him to help bolster their pass rush but their team ended up being terrible this year. He was on a one year contract and wasn’t going to re-sign because he has wanted to go to the Ravens since he asked to be traded from the Jags.

Vikings were very lucky to recoup some of their losses because no one was trading for Yannik since its known he only wants to sign with Baltimore. Ravens could have waited until the offseason but he filled a huge pass rushing need for them.

May not be, but they would be wise to dump as much as possible and reload. That team is in cap hell with big contracts. They had a good run with some good years, but its looking like that run is over.

They fuged up royally guaranteeing Kirk Cousins almost 70 million over the next two years.

Vikings are an example of why you are patient when building your team and you don't rush to "win-now."  Even if you think Cousins is better than the media gave him credit for (and I am one of those people - Cousins was underrated), that contract was just stupid.  Vikings didn't need to spend that kind of $ on a QB.  And it's never worked out for them.  They have never been as good again as they were in 2017.

Yes, and then turn around and gave Cook that huge deal. That team is in it big time, and to think that the salary cap will probably decrease next year due to the Covid affect of limited fans this year. They really would be smart to sale off as much as possible, grab draft picks, and rebuild.

You're better off drafting QBs than playing the FA lotto these days.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
