If you were in Moton's shoes...

Reasonable. And thanks for actually addressing the premise of the thread.

I definitely believe that if he becomes a free agent, his agent will look to sell teams on his left tackle potential. That's just smart business.

And like a lot of others, I'm disappointed that we haven't made a move to keep him already.

Fwiw, if I were Moton, I would say I am good were I am at, and I am ok with making 8 million instead of the 10 million I might make if I moved to left (don't actually know what the $ difference is between the two positions).

I think a lot of us probably would settle. And it's probably true that a lot of NFL players would too.

If course, that's why they have agents.

Moton is a sharp guy. He has a business degree, so I would imagine he'll be thoughtful about making the right choice for himself and his family. What that is, who knows? In my opinion, barring catastrophic injury, he's got a longer shelf-life, thus more earning potential as a proven, stud RT than as a possibly decent LT.

There are other factors that might pull him away or keep him here: Did he move his family here? Are they happy? Does he buy into Rhule's vision for the team? Does he factor into Rhule's long-term vision for the team?

I hope he stays here.

Ok, 3-D chess time.  Here me out. We move Moton somewhere that he is going to struggle. Whether that be LT or hell, even center.  This way we continue to lose games and make re-signing him cheaper!  It's a win-win.

If you're going that route, you could also try putting someone like Chris Reed at a position where he's going to struggle...like guard.

That's sadly actually a less nonsensical theoretical than what OP keeps trying to argue for.

I think he is probably more worried about getting paid too dollar, which he should, than he is about moving to LT.

Honestly I’m a bit disappointed we haven’t extended  him yet but that is a topic for another day.
