Why is everyone so hard on Teddy?

You know, I understand we are losing a lot of close games, but lets be realistic... these are probably games that most people though we wouldn't have even been in this year.  The fact that Teddy Bridgewater is helping make these games close is promising.  The defense needs a more consistent pass rush, and has to force more turnovers. The O-line needs to get better as well.

I know it is a "win now" league, but we all know that's crap... Before Cam had his big season in 2015 they were losing a lot of close games, then they figured out how to win. Let the season play out, then see where we are... This team has TONS of upside and potential. I think Teddy is good enough to get this team to a SB... Just not this year.

He's paid 24M a year to be a franchise QB, and he has yet to play like one when it mattered.  Again, great guy, and yes, he is playing behind an absolute poo OL,  but you pay a guy that much money to win you games with big-time plays, not manage them.  I give it to him though, that 4th and 14 scramble today was the type of stuff we've needed from him.  But, still, his decision-making in clutch situations has been really bad for the most part.

We’re hard on him because the team would be 9-0 right now if Teddy was clutch

We could be 9-0 if the secondary and oline wasn’t trash.

why bring in a new QB when the obvious fundamentals are the worst in the league?

one step before the next, TB is hurt whether you believe it or not and Cam was ruined for the same mistakes

pretty clear QB is not step 1

Because he doesn't have "it" and with him on the roster the team will probably not invest a first round pick at the QB position.

So we are either stuck with him or trying to coach up a lower prospect. In both scenarios we will probably end up at being a team that can win a occasional playoff game but not much more than that.

To win the super bowl most often the QB need to have one game during the playoff run were he puts the team on his shoulder and carry the team. Can Teddy do that? Probably not.

We have to deprogram people who think that Teddy is a franchise QB. Thats why we go hard in the paint. As soon as everyone realizes that Teddy is a stopgap, and takes the L, we will stop.

Originally this is why I spoke up and got pood like crazy. People here after three games declared him a franchise QB and some literally called him ELITE. He isn’t. He’s not horrible but he isn’t a franchise QB and he for sure is not elite.

Because he’s not that good. He’s ok, but we were accustomed to 7.5 years of great QB play, then 1.5 of injury riddled bad QB play which is easier to stomach because there’s hope, to now we have what we have.  Mediocre QB play. It’s tough to have such a drastic downgrade when it’s not a Colts situation with Manning to that guy before Luck where you know you have a chance at a good QB in the near future.  We’re in QB purgatory.

I guess time will truly tell, but for sure he deserves a little... I like how people think that we can just go down to our local Walmart and pick a Tom Brady off the shelf on an isle that is FULL of "franchise" QB's. lol

    • I don't think anybody with a brain thought or thinks we are a legit super bowl contender this year.  I do LOVE the young core group that is forming. Part of the reason I defend Bryce Young is that if he is not good enough, we're going to waste a lot of this young talent we have anyway.  You don't go from 5-12 to super bowl contender in one offseason unless you get a major injury back or get an insane free agent haul. We currently can't hang with the best teams in the league.  We are also much closer than we were 365 days ago. Progress is good. There's still an outside shot at the playoffs, but I am really excited to see what Dan Morgan does with this offseason. Rico Dowdle a big decision. Jalen Coker, Brycen Tremaine, Cade Mays, Austin Corbett, Brady Christensen, Nick Scott and Christian Rozeboom are the guys we have to make decisions on. But this rebuild should be over next August. Or we have to do it again.  Improvements needed at pass rush and linebacker for sure.  Expecting us to win a super bowl this year is like expecting a kindergartener to do calculus. Is it possible? I guess so. but 99.9% shot it aint happening. We played like doo-doo against the bills, but that was definitely a penciled in loss from the day the schedule came out. Candidly though, if Bryce is ever going to be it, next year is the year we need to start being really good.
    • Yeah he put us in too big of a hole in which we had to pass more.  3rd and long with a slow roll out and he tried to tuck in and run with a fumble in the redzone.  3rd and long with an INT on our side of the field.  Then we get to like the 10ish yard line with less that 30 second and no timeouts (even Greg said we have to try to quick throws here), what does Dalton do?  Take a sack allowing us to barely rush a FG out (which missed due to being rushed).  You absolutely can't take a sack there.  Throw in getting sacked 6 additional times with 2 additional turnovers.  He also missed TMac on a TD where Shaq was trying to cover him and missed an open JHJ on a big gain.  Box Score watching won't tell the story yet people are going to try to do it anyway.   Now it's pretty clear he isn't the upgrade that some were claiming he is, but they can spin it differently I'm sure.
    • The combined record of teams we've beaten: 9-21. Some of y'all get fooled so easily.
