Daley suffered a concussion during Sunday's game against the Lions, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Daley recovered a fumble in the second quarter but suffered a concussion in the process. He'll need to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol before playing in another game, and his status is uncertain for a Week 12 matchup against the Vikings.”

I think we all knew it

Daley is good but his body isn't holding up. I don't think you can depend on him long term.

It’s like a repeating story with any of our promising lineman. If they are solid for any real stretch it’s been all too common to get hurt shortly thereafter. It feels like the injury bug hits our oline more than any other franchise recently.

It's the story with a lot of late round picks.

I've said it before: The hardest part of the Draft isn't deciding who's good right now. The really difficult part is predicting how long they're going to be good.

People get excited when a late round pick or an undrafted free agent look great; and yeah, it's a good thing. The problem is that as often as not, it doesn't last very long.

He’s been OK. I wouldn’t say he was promising or good. He’s stepped up when we needed him but if we want a solid OL I still think, health aside, we’d need an upgrade. Health added in and he’s definitely not a long term solution.

Those 2018/2019 drafts really did kill our depth and create holes. We had 2 extra 3rds and we still ended up with Burns, Moore and meh.

My experience has been that with OL, waist benders tend to have the most head injuries.  It only makes sense.  Stick your nugget in Reggie White's face and see how long you last.

(The reason I said that:  The RT for the Raiders last night --his father was on the practice squad for the Steelers and he told me about a scrimmage they had with Philly.  Reggie knocked him out during a drill.  He is now a preacher--like Reggie was--I told him, "Reg knocked the word of God into your head" and he said, "and knocked a lot of crap out the other end")

I'd put Daley in the range of good to sometimes approaching very good. Not great, but that's okay.

I was going to classify him as "better than Greg Little" but I realized that's way too broad a category.

He had a good start last year but got worse. He’s not above average which is good to me. Remember how good we thought Chris Clark was and even Little looked OK until he played Atlanta and looked like he wasn’t allowed to move his feet. Daley has not played well enough consistently to be considered above average. He’s potentially salvageable unlike Little. Wouldn’t surprise me if Little gets the Gaulden treatment after this year.

    • This is just a different type of draft. There's no top shelf compared to recent drafts. In the last ten years or so, there was a clear group. The issue with this draft is the best players are at lowered valued spots. Plus I said before Id always take the 8th best edge/de over the best safety. Panthers have always overrated LBs and RB compared to the league, but they did get safety right in terms of not valuing it. Mike Minter was about it, others die hards can bring up...  Still in order to better receive this draft, once you drop the positional value and just take the best player, its easier to understand. Very odd draft and the first time in history I can recall needing to do this. Just memeber coofus and NIL have changed the draft. There's lots more older players, cause now money to a guy that maybe 6th or maybe UD..... I mean Id take the college girls and 800k too, I think....
    • Good write up OP..... I may be the outlier here but I like our WR sans XL. Metchie is sneaky good and just like Dowdle last year he WILL BE the biggest under the radar singing of this year FA moves. I am warming up to the idea of Sadiq at 19 over defense. I'm just ready for every BY excuse to be gone, he doesn't have this or that. No he just sucks and we need to move on. Honestly I've said it before but this team has been depleted of so much talent over the years we really could go BPA and be fine. In DM I trust..........for now
