Blocking Technique (watching Penei Sewell)

Sewell is the cleanest pure LT prospect that has come out for a very very long time. He has very little downside. And he will be the best for the foreseeable future.

He should be our pick and I’d rather give up less capital for him than mortgage the entire future for a QB with all the holes this team has.

Please make this happen.

At this point it’s going to take nearly the same capital to trade up to get him as it would a QB

Sewell will not get past the Bengals and they’ll probably be picking 3rd. We’d have to trade up to number 2 (Justin Fields spot).

Comparing Sewell's college tape to Little's pro tape isn't really an apt comparison...most players are their best, most dominant selves in college against lesser competition.  It's easy to maintain proper technique when you're bigger and badder than 99% of the players you line up against.  It'd be more interesting to compare Little's college tape to Sewell's to contrast the two and argue why Sewell isn't going to experience the same kind of disastrous transition to the pro level.

Proper technique despite not needing it is a great sign.

Yeah, you gotta figure there's no way he makes it past the Bengals, especially after what happened this past weekend.

I probably shouldn't have watched his tape :)

Yes I guess this was my wishful thinking a couple weeks ago. Now that we won another game we may win another and looking across the NFL it’s dumbfounding how many worse teams there are...with the way we’re are going any other year we’d be close to a top 5 pick. I mean the Eagles are on track for the playoffs at 3-6-1 lol....

dammit

I'm never in favor of tanking, never.

On the flipside, when I watch the Draft and see guys who I'd have loved to have on our team go elsewhere, the fact that we won a few additional games that turned out to be meaningless is cold comfort.

Yep same

The top 7-8 guys in this years draft are exciting prospects. Like onmyown said above it’s truly dumbfounding how many worse teams there are than us.

Now on the flip side it may help shorten this rebuild process. We just need more talent period. One more decent draft would help us big time. 2022 or 2023 we could be set up nicely to make a couple big time moves.

Sewell got a vote for Heisman.  At left tackle.  As a freshman.  He's the best player in college.  A week or so ago, I thought we might get close enough to the fifth pick that we may have a chance he'd fall to us, if some teams went after a  QB after Trevor and Fields.

And then we won.  I believe it is supposed to be a good draft for LTs though.

Not even on my radar for Panthers bc Cincy is pigeonholed into drafting him now. Imagine if you were a Bengals fan, you'd be ready to burn that place down if they passed on that guy

I'd be more interested in figuring out who's OT2 and 3 at this point, there might be some other good players available
