Concise write up on Zack Wilson with video

I did see this one tidbit from The Draft Network that concerned me.

Quote

He has a ¾ like, quick release, but his arm angle puts a lot of pressure on his shoulder.

Quote

He has had injury history (throwing hand and shoulder) that needs to be evaluated as the process continues. He may have shoulder issues in the future due to the angle in which he releases the football — notable given he's already had shoulder surgery on his throwing arm.

So I don't know if anyone remembers this, but back in the day, a decade ago, there was a guy that was doing prospect breakdowns and he did one for Cam and said something along the lines of "His throwing motion is a very violent herky jerky motion that puts a ton of stress on his shoulder. He might have issues with that as his career goes forward." His mechanics were built around his shoulder instead of his legs and when his shoulder went to crap, his throwing ability fell apart. Might have been exaggerated due to the way he threw and why he had to tweak his throwing motion a few years back. I'll post the link if I can find it, but it this should not be something that the team should take lightly.

I am not going to lie, a few of those throws look identical to Trevor in regards to placing the ball right where the WR can get it and just perfect where the defender can do nothing.   I dont know how well he reads defenses or how he audibles but he throws some really nice balls.

I am not concerned with his shoulder but moreso his frame.  He has to get thicker

I dont think Cams motion hurt his shoulder it was just a combination of a ton of things.  Getting hit in particular scrambling, a terrible oline, Watt,  and waiting waiting waiting on treating the shoulder for fear of surgery.   The panthers failed Cam but he didnt do himself any favors trying to play through it.

What was the concise write up? This is what it said about the kid:

Wilson (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) is in the middle of a sensational season. Through nine games, he already has 2,724 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and two interceptions while averaging 11.5 yards per attempt.

Then it had videos.

It is concise with videos adding to it.  (Sic) Pictures vs a thousand words

Don’t like it, pass it by

I like Wilson the prospect, but there are definitely durability questions. He's still in college and he's already had two surgeries on his throwing arm - one on his shoulder and one on his thumb. That's pretty damn concerning. Factor in his slight frame and... yeah.

But yeah, I do really like him as a player.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
