Per Florio, citing "a league source" the NFL is saying that if (IF) there is a likelihood that stadiums will be fully open in 2021, they might hold off on reducing the Salary Cap.

That'd obviously have implications for free agency.

It's only a discussion at the moment though, so more to come.

I sincerely hope it does drop because we have the room to navigate and be okay. The Saints however.....

I'm not sure how you could actually REDUCE the salary cap in the first place.  Sure, you could keep it the same, but reducing it would be very unfair to some teams.  I know we aren't one of them, because our cap is finally looking healthy again for next season, but the fact remains that it wouldn't be competitively fair to reduce it.

There’s no logical reason to let Moton walk. I don’t care what you think about Hurney. Rhule will be deciding whether we keep Moton or not. He’s not gone until he’s gone so I don’t really care about him not being signed yet.

What makes you think logic has any part in Panthers free agency?

Personally, I'd love to see it reduced and I think it would be fair, if applied across all teams (which it would be). I think there have been teams that have been kicking cans down the road to keep rosters loaded and it's time it caught up with them. New Orleans, Dallas, you know, the regular culprits and teams I'd love to hear squeal for a few years.

It would actually be a really good move to make competitiveness more paramount and to restore some parity.

The league has already negotiated a deal with the NFLPA to spread the hit out over three seasons and have an absolute floor of $175 mil. It's not really about fairness. There isn't much fair about the things that have happened during the pandemic. It just sort of is what it is. The NFL owners are definitely not going to agree to just operate in the red out of a sense of "fairness." They care about money overall.

See what I mean?  It's punitive, targeted at a few teams whom it would hurt unfairly more than others.

I don't disagree that teams have been kicking a can down the road, but that's their right.  They did it based on the knowledge in the labor agreement that the salary cap would continue to grow.  I also think it will catch up to them eventually and I look forward to that day.  But both of us could be wrong!  Using a global crisis to accelerate or trigger it would be grossly unfair.

      Bryce would have extended some plays scrambling with his legs but then again he also has a high number of fumbles so you never know what you're going to get and the way the Bills were getting after Andy (sacked 7 times) it stands to reason Bryce would have been under duress often. What exactly do you want here? I mean I'm going to go by the gameplan I saw after Bryce turned the ball over against GB. Clearly Dave Canales was deliberately trying to limit the opportunities for him to make a catastrophic mistake. And didn't Micah Parsons log zero QB pressures? So with that in mind if you are asking for anyone to argue our offense with Bryce would have had much if any success against that opportunistic motivated Bills defense while we were also splitting carries between Rico and Chuba who had the majority of them which ended up being a situation resulting in a weeks worth of scathing criticism and deservedly so then I'm going to just have to say we can agree to disagree.
