I know Wikipedia still lists him as being an Assistant LB Coach for the Panthers, but he's actually not.

If you check the coaching staff page on the team site or the Panthers 2020 media guide, he's not there.

Oh, wow I thought he was still here.  I guess he’s not laughing, then.  AceMan was right; soon we shall be free!!

The 31 other teams let him drop for a reason.

Same thing happened with Jimmy Clausen.

Bottom Line: No, no GM is perfect, but some guys are very good at predicting what players are gonna be good and which ones aren't, and others are Marty Hurney.

You can't just hang on to a guy who's bad at his job just because nobody's perfect at it. If that logic worked, we'd have hung on to Ron Rivera (and Clausen).

He's just not good enough.

Hurney isn't making decisions by himself anymore. The Panthers have various positions to help make those decisions. I have trust in Rhule and willing not to overly criticize with out current reason...

Eleven out of fifteen years without winning seasons isn't a reason?

Not having built a winner since 2008 is acceptable performance?

Exactly what would he have to do to make him worthy of being let go in your mind?

No, then it was to make a decision based on tape, interviews, references, measurables, etc. Not to predict the future, just what you believe it could be...

You actually think all that stuff is just a judge how good a player they are now?

You draft a guy not because of how good they were, but how good you think they're going to be.

When you're wrong about that too many times, you get let go.

That's been discussed here before.

My own opinion, I just don't think he's got the brain power to play OL at the NFL level. And unfortunately, moving him inside wouldn't change that.

When you play OG and Center, you better be of the personality that you ENJOY mixing it up and hitting other people.

Greg Little *ain't* that guy.

I still don't understand how some people can look at how much of a pansy Greg Little is on the football field (and at his size) and think "Oh gee, why don't we play him at OG?"  Just doesn't make any sense to me.

It's my understanding that on most of Hurney wild reaches that he's gone against the advice of the scouts. Hurney is a big "gut feel" decision maker who is willing to overlook glaring red flags if he has a good feeling about a prospect.

Maybe that's why he picked a RB from Florida who wasn't even a starter on his own college team.
