Changing tunes on Moton?

If you read the teas leaves, his Tweet and Darin's article seem to paint the picture that theyre going to try and keep Taylor over Curtis

That would be the smart move, and I would love it. The smarter move last year would have been Bradberry over Shaq but this one seems like a layup compared to that decision. We are still trying to replace Gross, and I cringe thinking of years going by trying to replace Moton.

I still have nightmares of Remmers in the super bowl.

Darin was also on ODC with us this week and pretty much all but said they were going to make an effort for Taylor and not Curtis. Both he and Bill have alluded to tagging him.

My assumption....he's tagged and rented for a season while they develop younger player(s) from this draft and then draft OL again in '22 but let Taylor walk vs tying up that much money at RT

Smart. It’s going to be tough enough to fill all the holes on the OL in one offseason anyway. That’s one person we cannot afford to lose next season. Hopefully we are smart enough to try and tag/trade the next season if that’s the case rather than letting him walk for nothing like we have in the past.

We still have no plans at LT it seems. It is a revolving door year after year.

Hes absolutely worth the contract the Giants gave him. He was one of the best in the league this season and would have been a building block for our secondary for years to come. The guy is only 27 and could have been had by simply not having Okung on the roster this year, not counting if we cut Kk like we should have

Yep. Bradberry and Shaq were easily affordable together. If you just stop the stupid decisions like Short and Okung we could have had Bradberry for 3 years and just $18.5M if we didn’t take on $26.5M this year that was not helpful for future. When you throw away cap space you have to make decisions. When you don’t we could have afforded to keep all the young 5 year rebuild guys.

That sounds like huge win. Any idea if this is recently or has been going on all along?

Moton does not perform at “average level” and that’s just a fact. Not only is he one of the best RT’s in the league, but he is durable, as good of a teammate as you could ask for, at the age that you can build around him with younger draft talent, and someone who is just going into his prime. Letting him go would be a huge blow to our team. We can replace Samuel easily, tackles not so much. We are still looking for a replacement for Gross, and I don’t feel like going back to switching players every year or being happy with a couple years from a player like Remmers. Moton is a building block and one of the best in the game...you can’t let someone like that walk. He is a star RT and I would challenge you name a top 5 list of right tackles in the game right now that you would rather build around than Moton.

Glad you feel strongly about him. Honestly, though, can anyone name five other RTs in the league?

If we keep him, it is to the good, but you have to worry about that paycheck. If he's as great as you say, the market price on him is going to be astronomical. It might be a financial decision for us more than a quality one. If he were a proven LT and was working at that side, there'd be no question. But, he plays RT, which generally gets the lighter pass rush, more help from a TE and is generally the better half of the field for QB reaction times, route running.

I just worry that he looks to be the best of what is a bunch of scrubs here and we may put too dear a price on him simply because of that.

I'm not saying sell, just saying proceed with a bit of caution and foresight here.
