I'm not sure if getting another manager from the Giants is a great move. Last one ended badly and there just isn't a lot to look at when it comes to the Giants in the last few years. 

All we need is another Bup Bup Bup Youse Guys at the helm again to sink us completely.

Did DG really end badly? He certainly wasn't perfect here and has been questionable in NY, but DG had pretty damn good success here, ultimately.

I have never disagreed with you more, but that's OK.:shades:

I think he had above average success on the contractual side and below average success on the drafting side! I think that he was downright bad to abysmal at what I'll call situational team building (which it's all situational), as he was much too dogmatic in his theories and approach to modern-day football. Just my $0.02. I am not going to get into an unnecessary debate on Gettleman. He's gone... thankfully!

Maybe it’s just because the only thing we have to compare him to is Hurney, but here are the results of each of his seasons (including 2017 because he was GM for the draft and free agency so that was his team despite getting fired during training camp):

 

2013: 12-4, divisional round loss

2014: 7-8-1, divisional round loss

2015: 15-1, Super Bowl loss

2016: 6-10, missed playoffs

2017: 11-5, wild card loss

 

I don’t know how anyone can argue that is anything other than a mostly successful tenure, in terms of pure outcome. I agree, he wound up missing in the draft considerably more than you’d hope for, but as Belichick (a notably horrible drafter) has shown, it doesn’t matter how you get there, as long as you can build a roster that can win. He should not have been fired when he was, and it’s certainly possible the team still would’ve fallen apart with Cam’s injuries whether DG stayed or not, but I wouldn’t assume that. We’ll never know, but that 5 season stretch is easily the best in our team’s history and DG should’ve been kept around at least another year or two to see what he could’ve kept building here. If we still fell apart then yeah I’d agree with you, but we never got the chance to see how it played out. His Giants tenure isn’t looking so good, but his 5 seasons here were pretty successful overall.

Yup.

People don't want to look at team success when they "evaluate" GM's, they would rather look at 1st round draft picks.

It's a really weird condition that the Panthers fans have.

      We agree here dawg. I'd love for Bryce to succeed as would all huddlers. I have not seen a single huddler hate Bryce for anything other than his play on the field / potential / skillset. He hasn't gotten any of the irrational hate having nothing to do with football that Cam got. And yeah I understood going into this season with Bryce again as there weren't a ton of options, but man we missed the fuging mark on upgrading at backup QB with someone who could actually push Bryce. Bryce had zero pressure on him with a 100% washed up Dalton being the only other NFL caliber QB in the system. That absolutely needs to change this offseason. Ideally with an actual starter upgrade but that seems extremely unlikely due to not having many FA options and a bad draft. But at the very least with someone like you mentioned, young/upside and/or day 3 pick in the draft.   Another note, we have a top paid and top performing OL, great young talent at WR incl. likely OROY, great RB group, average all around TE group, offensive coach with creativity in the system and good play designs (poor situational playcalling but still I put out current offensive coaching staff over Shula who held Cam back for instance). Not the absolute best situation for a QB to be in, but still a very good situation around him. And yet we have a bottom 8 offense (6th lowest points scored). Imagine taking a victory lap for a QB leading his team to the 6th lowest points scored in the league and the 22nd highest passer rating (despite being asked to do less than many other QBs; i.e. Bo Nix who isn't great either and has a slightly lower passer rating but Sean Payton actually lets him try to throw the ball deep and has him throw significantly more than Bryce). Crazy

      similar to Atlanta and the NHL.  Atlanta has lost two NHL teams (and lost a minor leaguer).  Now there's another coalition pulling together another proposal for Atlanta to get an NHL expansion. While I'd like hockey to be back in Atlanta 'cause hockey is fun, I am skeptical that it'll happen based on previous teams' experience here alternatively: similar to Atlanta hosting a Major Tennis Tournament in advance of the US Open every mid/late summer.  Aside from the fact that Atlanta is said to be the country's largest Tennis playing city (with both USTA and ALTA, along with a number of side leagues) - playing tennis outdoors in Atlanta summer is miserable *and* they had difficulty attracting players... ticket sales were not good. So the Atlanta Open closed after 14 years.  They just couldn't make it happen, even if for all intents it appears to be massive tennis interest in the surrounding area.

      So I saw where Luke was doing that show parallel to the game. Whatever it was, statcast something something, knew it would be a good watch. I don’t get ESPN any more but that would be one of the about few things I would watch outside of games.     He doesn’t fool around on the radio broadcast.
