Rapoport: Panthers expected to be in the mix for Watson.

so what do you think he gets traded for?

not a prediction as it’s difficult to say where he goes if he goes at all not knowing the full context here but if he were to be traded to carolina i think 2 firsts, a 2nd/3rd and mccaffrey gets it done. they’re probably taking a player or two back in any deal so it’s hard to say exactly what he goes for but i get the feeling houston would value mccaffrey at roughly the value of a first round pick. they have very dumb ownership, mccaffrey is a “star” and tbh his complexion is going to appeal to that franchise. so let’s say ~3 first round picks in value.

i know watson is worth way more than that so i don’t need anyone to pipe up with how it will never happen on the basis that it’s an underpay. what he’s worth as a player in a vacuum and what the texans will get in return are two different things. houston is going to eat a loss on any trade. the question is how much of a loss. without knowing what teams he would accept a trade to it’s difficult to say for sure. we can only speculate. but if anyone is in the driver’s seat right now it’s watson.

Atlanta Falcons +700

New York Jets +750

Denver Broncos +800

Las Vegas Raiders +800

New Orleans Saints +800

Chicago Bears +900

New England Patriots +900

San Fransisco 49ers +1000

Just for reference, this was that same site's list for who would be the next Panthers head coach a year ago.

Greg Roman +300
Jason Garrett +550
Robert Saleh +700
Dan Quinn +750
Jim Harbaugh +750
Josh McDaniels +800
David Shaw +900
Mike McCarthy +1200
Urban Meyer +1200
Jay Gruden +1400
Doug Marrone +1600
Mike LaFleur +1600
Marvin Lewis +1800
Pat Shurmur +1800
Doug Pederson +2000
Bill Cowher +2500

Oddsmakers do pretty well at picking point spreads. When it comes to personnel moves, not so much.

The only problem with that package is that BoB doesn't work there anymore.  I don't think they go for it.  On the Panthers side, I think you take that trade in a heartbeat.

Yeah, Texans just traded for David Johnson...why would McCaffrey entice them? They would want picks, picks, and more picks.

    • Jalon Walker not looking like a bust? That can't be right.
    • To be fair. Our GM is the assistent of the worst GM in NFL history.  We pay trillions of dollars on the Oline and cant pass protect or run.  We pay trllions of dollars on the D-dine and cant pass rush.  We cant draft. We are a bad team. With a bad owner and really bad management.
    • Stud: WR Tetairoa McMillan In the midst of all the incompetence and mediocrity, there's one shining hope for the future of this franchise. Rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan led the team with six catches and 100 receiving yards. He also had an extremely impressive one-handed catch wiped out becaue he couldn't quite stay in-bounds. McMillan is a bit slower, but there are flashes of some Julio Jones in his game. His route running and YAC ability are both far better than they were advertised coming out of the draft.   Or, you know, exactly what anyone who watched enough of his tape would have known.   Honestly, our Arizona board could never understand this knock on him in the pre-draft process, because we all knew it wasn't true.  And sure, we're fans who watched all his games, but you'd think the experts who supposedly watch all the snaps of these type of prospects would have been seeing it too, it was glaringly obvious to us. Seriously, how many times did I say here that he could run every route needed?  How many times did I talk about his surprisingly good run after catch ability for someone his size?  How he wasn't a burner, but he was amazingly smooth for a 6'5" WR? As I've said, only 2 players from Arizona, both football and basketball, have I ever felt they were 1 million percent can't miss stars in the pros.  T-Mac and Gronkowski, that's it.  One is the greatest TE in NFL history, the other is about to take Smitty's mantle as the Panthers WR GOAT when all is said and done.
