He would do well in our system but I don’t want to give up the 8th pick for him.

His skill set is honestly ideal for what we run.

I don't really think he's a bridge either. Most analysts think he's got at least four or five years left in him.

most of yall are selling Stafford way short, he is an elite QB in this league and  the Panthers would be very lucky to have him. Also he will only be 33 next season thats relatively young for a QB in the NFL

elite QBs can beat good teams

when drew brees was 7-9 three years in a row or aaron rodgers went 6-9-1 did you scream that he was not an elite QB? these teams are more than their QBs its 21 other players out there that need to do their jobs. its disingenuous to judge any of these QBs solely on their record

Not a fan of trading for Stafford. May be 3 years ago. He's too old, and the cost is likely too high.

We're probably 3 years away from a Super Bowl run with good drafts, and that doesn't seem likely if we give up 1st rounders. That'd push us back to 4-5 years where Stafford will be far older and on the last legs of his carrier.

Seems like 1 QB mistake after making the initial one.

This is good to hear.  Yesterday all the media speculation was on the Rams getting him.

Just reviewed some stuff from Albert Breer.

Breer puts us "solidly in" the discussion, though he notes we're one of seven teams talking to the Lions right now. Said Lions brass was in Mobile this week and a lot of talk went on down there.

One thing that caught my attention: he takes the idea of Stafford going to the Panthers more seriously than he does him going to the Rams or the 49ers.

That made me 😳

Elite qbs win playoff games as well in spite of their team. Elite hell no. Good hell yes .

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
