I would 100% ok with Derek Carr.  Look at this:

All the guy has done since entering the league is get better and better and better.  27 TD, 9 INT's, 4100 yards last year.  Almost 8 yards per attempt.  YES PLEASE.

He's relatively young, with another 5-7 years of prime football in him unless he gets abused.

Oh, and there's this:

Five game winning drives last year.  Hi there clutch QB.

Yeah, I just browsed his stats too.

I am warming up to this idea quite a bit. I don't think he is an elite QB but he might be really great in our offense.

Then pay him over TB if they can't do better than a TB quality QB. Doubt there is a huge market for him, could even see a return to NE as the main option aside from staying in IND.

Just don't see them trading for TB.

What I am stating is that TB's contract isnt as bad as this message board portrays. There is an out prior to the 3rd year, and we would have to pay out the majority of this year's value if we traded him. So any team taking on TB is going to get a cheap 1 year rental.

He's not elite at present, but his stats man . . . can you imagine what they'd look like if he was throwing to Moore, Anderson and CMC?  He's got the arm.  He takes good care of the ball, but isn't scared to push it downfield.  Mobile.

And that clutch factor.  He had nine opportunities to win a game for his team.  He did it five times.  All I'm saying is that if our QB had that record this past season, we would have been 10-6.

Yeah, I don't watch a lot of Raiders(pretty rarely). I am trying to get an idea about how he works in their offense. I had a friend bring up him as "check down" guy. Trying to look at some advanced stats to see how he does throwing the ball deep.

Other than that. Yeah, I would be okay with Carr.

Not sure I like the idea, but here is what we know:  The Raiders are in red ink and he would be a $19m break from it..  We could swap first rounders with them and send them a third.  They get to move up into Lance area and have a third to help if they need to make another move up (Cincy or Philly) if necessary.

They get $19m cap room, the positioning in the draft to draft another QB, and a third.  The Panthers would have the  12th overall pick, 2 NFL starting QBs. The Panthers could then trade back for a late first and late second--then picking late 1st (Tackle like Cosmi) and 2 seconds (MLB, CB) with no third.

They ain't getting 2 first rounders for Carr.  Not happening.  Carr has 2 years left on his contract and no money is guaranteed.  I am not sold on this move even though it might appear to be robbing the Raiders.  Still, at $20m unguaranteed, we would have about $45m in cap room going toward Teddy and Derek.

Stats are great, but most Raider fans want him gone.  Mayock even said recently, (paraphrasing) "The best part about Carr's contract is that it has almost no guaranteed money."  Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

What out? To keep him it will cost the Panthers 28M in cap space. 23 this year. 5 next.

A team trading for him would have to pay him 17M to be on their team this year. Who is going to pay that for a backup QB who just showed his limited ability? If anything, statements like these pretending that contract isn’t a huge obstacle is something that has been falsely portrayed on here for awhile.

I dunno man, check out the Chiefs game below.  Carr took his team down to take the lead with less than two minutes to go and the Raiders couldn't hang on.  He was definitely looking downfield first the whole game.  I know, it's just one game, but it's pretty representative.

Watching Kelce and Waller makes me miss having a great TE.

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
