Steve Smith HoF is he in or out?

I don't see any way he's a 1st ballot guy, not with the "fights".  Character matters in those votes. TO it took 3 years, same for Michael Irvin. Chris Carter took 6.. All had some skeletons.. Hell, Art Monk took 8, and he was all world well regarded.

It will happen, he's one of the 25 best to ever play the position, but don;t lose your minds if it takes a few years.

Share his backstory. What do you personally know and how do you know? I'm not doubting you or being a smart ass like 90% of the posters act like on here, I'm just trying to understand where you are coming from and how you know this to be true. By all means please shed some light on this. Don't give us a part of the story and just he is a bad human then leave us hanging. I want to know more if you're willing to share.

Setting aside his sucker punching not one but two teammates and ending the career of one of those.  We can go back to his days of Junior college where he was disruptive and suspended because of his abusive and violent behavior.  And if that is not enough we can go to his sons flag football league where he blew up on a ref and had to be restrained.  But yeah other than that Smith is a world class citizen.

Don't like bumping up an old thread, but I wont let that be the last thing said about Steve Smith.

Steve Smith WILL be a Hall of Famer, most likely 1st ballot.  His numbers alone put him in, his national TV gig will get him in faster.  No one outside of the dude above cares about a couple of altercations he had during practice when it comes to HoF voting.

Here are some images of how we should remember a Panther Goat

Should be in, but it’s tough for WRs for some reason. His attitude will do him no favors as well.

His end zone fight with Harper and Jenkins is one of my favorite plays in league history.

I loved how Harper was actually the one that laid him out, but Steve just started whooping up on the first guy he saw when he got up

I liked how he got cheap-shotted, finished his celebration, then stomped over to the fracas to punk Malcolm Jenkins

It was actually 3 and a couple more that were prevented. Plus many other negative fan interactions that have been shared many times over.

Doesn’t matter, he was attempting to deem someone he’s never met a horrible human being, I'm sure Smith refusing to sign an autograph elevates him to hitler status

Sucker punching 2 of your teammates does indeed make him a horrible horrible human being.  thats just the way it is whether I have met him or not doesnt matter plus all of the other crap he has done that hasnt seen the light of day.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
