That's a fallacy. Edelman played in 6 games in 2020 .. played 16 in 2019 ..

Gordon, Brown, Sanu, and Dorsett in 2019 also combined for 947 yards receiving .. so Edelman + those 4 WR = basically, two 1,000 yard receivers .. Cam had zero 1,000 yard receivers

I've been reading all of these wonderful opinions and beliefs from these arm chair GMs only to watch them cower back to the shadows after having nothing but stats, evidence and logic hit them in the face. Good times.

The truth about this signing is somewhere between what Cam's fans and Cam's haters would have you believe.

Cam is getting the opportunity to participate in a full training camp this year w/the Patriots to show what he's got.  Meanwhile, the Patriots may continue to look for another QB to compete for the starting job.

 Best of luck to Cam.

I hear about his hard working habits in the gym. But I have always wondered why it never translated to better fundamentals, better understanding of defenses and more accuracy. You would think if he worked at those as hard as he did the gym he would be further along after 10 years in the league. Not saying he isn't a hard worker but it seems not to translate equally among his skills.

Lol

Pats defense was a top 10 defense this year....

Also, as for weapons... see Pats 2003-2006... the WR talent of those rosters were middling...

WRs were undrafted and 7th round picks. You had Deion Branch who was their big pick in the 2nd round never went over 450yards during those seasons....

So yeah... Brady won a super bowl with the same type of players Cam was surrounded by.

Not a knock on Cam, but a knock on your innaccurate post.

Learn to spell if you like to insult folks!

To address your post:

How do you want to rate the Pats defense?  They were top 10 in scoring defense, yards given up, blitzes, blitz %, QB hurries, and QB hurry %.  They were middling in average depth of targeted defender and bottom third of the league in QB knockdowns, QB knockdown %, tackles for loss and sacks.  If the defense was so good it should have been able to at least win a game or two for them...instead they finished 7-9.

Looking back at the WRs the Pats had from 2003-2006 I would take the Troy Browns and Deion Branches over Byrd and the no names Cam had last year.

So yeah... you are right that New England's defense was better than I thought.  We can agree to disagree about what kind of supporting cast Cam had on offense.

Not a knock on your post, but you are a rude ass misspelling mofo.

What I believe is that Brady would have taken that 2020 team to the playoffs.

I think you are in the minority on that opinion but if you say so.

Let's reverse the scenario.  What would Bridgewater done in NE?  And what would Cam had done in Carolina?

Honestly Cam puts us in the playoffs with the weapons we had.  His arm strength may not have been up to 2015 but it would have been far better than TB5.   Cam given the chance to win 8 games during the season, at minimum, would have won at least 50%.  That puts us at 9-7.

TB5 in New England.  You're looking at New England in the top 5 draft picks and probably contending with Jacksonville and the NYJ for the top spot.

Like when NE signed Cam last July. They said it by no means makes Cam the starter, and that Stidham still had a shot to be the starter. Sure he did. But for all intensive purposes, when Cam signed, he was the starter.

Like now.

I get the feeling Newton's gonna have a lot better competition than Jarett Stidham this year.

He still might win the job, but again, it's not guaranteed.
