Yep. They are usually hand timed versus laser timed. The NFL laser timing is a little suspect too but at least it is standardized across the board.

The laser timing eliminates most of the head starts/premature stops due to the person clicking the stop watch, I trust the lasers lot more.. I don't understand how colleges still dont use them my middle school had them in 2001 to clock 40s and c02 car races for woodshop.

Shenanigans are part of the sell.

Folks are doing a lot of work to try and refute the man's clear athletic talent that was also combined with his production.

Not saying he's a sure thing in the NFL, but with those measurables AND tape, he's definitely sneaking his way into the back end of the first round after being rumoured there months ago. If not then, I can't see him escaping round 2. Considering he was considered at worst a day 2 prospect, I think that's a good thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Refute? He's a fantastic athlete for the position..... his measurables are almost identical to Brian Burns.... but he's definitely not a true 4.3 guy.

Comparisons to Mike Mamula + Dion Jordan, focusing on sacks as the sole metric for production, a hyper focus on the 40yd dash time despite the fact that he measured high in multiple drills, etc isn't refuting clear athletic talent that was also combined with production?

Again, not saying the man is a sure thing in the pros, but with those measurables he WILL get opportunities on the field and he's likely improved his earnings by literal millions. I'm not sure what the downplaying of the prospect does (not like we're targeting edge rusher in the first two rounds), but they can cook I guess?

Sorry I hadn't seen some of the other posts sacks aren't as important as pressure.... He's a fantastic athlete for sure his measurables are very similar to Burns in the ones that are definitive at pro days, I don't think he's a 4.38 guy but a 4.5 guy? Absolutely which is still fantastic for a 6'5 DE I haven't seen him play much tbh.

    • We beat Atlanta by 30 in the first meeting
    • The situation here was the doing of David Tepper.  Frank Reich didn't want Young, he wanted Stroud. Stroud fit his QB mold better than Young. So yeah, he didn't design an offense for him. He was lied to by his boss and he didn't want to be here. Would you? It sucks for Young, but as I said, that has nothing to do with his terrible footwork, poor mechanics, his shitty drop backs, fumble issues, not bothering to look off the Atlanta safety that turned into a pick 6 by his own admission. Those were all things that had nothing to do with Frank, the OL or the rest of the team.  And Houston wasn't a complete team. They had the 2nd pick in the draft because they sucked. They built a team and had a damn good HC that I wanted here but he refused Tepper's interview.  Young has been protected in ways no other QB has. Dalton has been kept because he has never been a threat to take the job from Young. We signed him to a 2 year deal this offseason when it was clearly evident we needed an upgrade. For 2m more per year we could have and should have looked at Brissett if we didn't go after Howell, Russell, Winston or anyone else. Anyone else other than Dalton would have been a serious risk to take Young's starting job. If Young hadn't been the 1st overall pick, and been a day 3 pick instead, he would have been cut as a rookie. If he were on any other team as a starter, this message board would be laughing like hell at whoever was starting him for 3 years. That's why this team gets murdered when Young doesn't play. He's been sheltered from ever having to worry about his job and the QB room proves it.  I've been extremely critical of how this team has been constructed the past 3 years, especially on offense. But this whole narrative that Bryce has always been good enough and it's everyone else's fault that he's not succeeding isn't matching up to what he's been putting on the field week in and week out.
    • He sucks to be honest. He hasn't made much of a difference at all.
