To say nothing about the veracity of the claims by the women involved, for or a guy who claims to not be doing it for the attention, this ambulance chaser sure is doing a LOT of talking about himself and his accomplishments. For a guy who claims to not be doing it for the money, it'll be interesting to see what happens with any of his payouts if there ends up being any money collected in these suits. Spoiler alert: they'll end up in his bank account.

Do you think that it's garbage to make this focus on the effects on a football team 's logistics and not the effects of assault on victims?

I think that the entire situation seems unsavory, tawdry and mysteriously convenient though untoward and perverse, but at this point I'm not so sure I would call anyone a true "victim" of legitimate assault.

I mean, here we have a guy that knows the team owner a few weeks before the draft coming out, slinging mud and basically being the epitome of a sleazeball ambulance chaser in the service of all women (I assume) who were either professional or wannabe masseuses, at least one being willing to fly across the country to give a guy a young rich guy a "massage", and from the accounts I read were instructed at different points to the level of service required but either balked and/or got brand new when it came time to do the job. I even find the fact that at least the first three--if not all--are masseuses is kinda weird. It all just sounds a little too convenient. I also find it more than disingenuous that the ambulance chaser attempted to get six figures to make the first case go away, but now is suddenly about the "victims" who are only suing now for $500.

I'm certainly not going to make moral judgments based upon people on a football message board based on these allegations, particularly before more actual facts come out, the seriousness of the behavior (which hasn't risen to criminality), or before our own management who has obviously been considering acquiring Watson (which will affect the team) either "dismisses" this situation or rejects acquiring Watson out of hand, as it could have some type of consequence on the franchise. As such, all discussion is still on the table, regardless of where you think it should be focused.

Uneducatedly I think, McNair is the one pushing for this( no proof just pure speculation)..  Watson refusing to play for them and McNair refusing to trade him... forced McNair to get creative and play some real low life cards... I think this is if you won’t play for me you won’t play for anybody... What if Watson got #metooed would they be on the hook for his contract ? If allegations are true how much of the money can save on the cap and future guaranteed money.. and the main reason is McNair is setting this standard so that any future star player is wanting to demand out know that Texans wont play ball and you will sit while they figure the best legal ways to recoup any money’s that they might be legally owed or can void..

very insecure controversial and conspiracy take .. I am ape and no NFL journalist just a crazy random panther fan with too much time on his hands haha

If I was an nfl investigator I would be looking into this lawyer being McNair “neighbor”.. also see if McNair or his business interests supported this lawyers past election campaigns.. even so it would just be a bad look not an proven wrong doing by McNair

Oh, there's probably going to be mudslinging in the other direction. This guy is not an angel, and I doubt the masseuses are either.

This is foolishness. You're wrong again. Many states do not require parties to pay jury fees. Of those that do, the fee is typically minimal, and that minimal fee can be waived by application to the court.

Not in Texas, sweet tits.

This is going to get ugly.. its bad for business all the way around ... I hope the end result is McNair is forced to sell and Watson comes to Carolina cheaper and obviously all the allegations are debunked and tossed ... sad

Like you? You just said there's no jury in civil trials, which is patently wrong. If a party requests a jury trial in a civil case, it generally has a right to one unless it is in a lesser court such as a magistrate court. You might check the Constitution, Seventh Amendment.

Expand

Yea, the party have to pay for jury too that’s why most civil cases have no jury.  There’s a reason it’s civil and not criminal.

Attached is a bit blurry but in the complaint against Watson a jury trial is specifically requested.

FYI.

Civil courts are design to settle.  It will likely be cheaper for him to settle and just sweep the whole thing under the rug.  The main goal here is to destroy Watson’s image and cost him millions in endorsements.  Watson have to decide if he wants to lose $15-$20m in endorsements to prove his point and pay that asshole $5mm and he done with it or to fight it and likely lose $20-40mm in both endorsement, legal costs and likely game checks.

This is all by design.  100% this is orchestrated by McNair to destroy Watson’s image and bank account.  Smartest thing is to settle and get the duck out of Houston.

The plaintiffs want $500 each. They want him to admit he’s guilty.

If he admits to this, it would be very hard for an org like the Panthers to bring him in given their history.

If he doesn’t settle, this will stretch on for at least a year or so and we’ll have no choice but to move on with another QB.

Thats all I’m saying.

In the court of public opinion settling would serve as an admission of guilt.

As we saw in the Richardson case, "confidential" settlements don't always remain that way.

Slippery slope settling is...

She only wants $500 bucks ??? Looks like Watson trade will be on hold till further notice ....

Not at all what they're asking for if you read the Complaint. Just a lawyer's trick to say it's not about money. They have to ask for at least $500 to invoke the jurisdiction of that court, apparently, in Texas. They are seeking emotional distress and punitive damages as well.

    • The coaches want to win, but they know we’re not contenders this year and playing the long game with a guy coming off a torn ACL the previous November is the smart play
