Go on record. Who still wants Watson?

Technically 25 now counting the woman interviewed in the article. And her story apparently predates the timeline of the others so who knows how long this might have been going on?

Throw in that you can't use the "just looking for money or fame" excuse on her because she's getting neither.

To quote the late Jack Dawson, "This is bad".

I think he's likely guilty, but that girl from the SI story had a law firm hired already. She going to try to get money out of it, quite honestly I don't blame them. If all of these legitimately happened then he deserves serious jail time and the women he violated need to get paid and have some sort of closure from this.

The sad thing is, people probably knew about this...friends, trainers, other players

something like this is pretty hard to keep quiet given the numbers

Im like sweet baby Jesus, when did he have time to do anything else

"Closure" here doesn't necessarily mean he pays off the accusers and everything goes away.

One pretty universal part of each of the lawsuits has been the demand for an admission of guilt. Maybe some of the women will back off from that but I wouldn't put money on all of them doing it. And if Watson doesn't want to, is a settlement possible?

Supposing he does admit it though? That basically amounts to an admission of being a serial sexual predator. And does that then raise the possibility of him having to register as a sex offender? If so, how does that affect his status?

Bottom Line: This is a mess, and I wouldn't put any money whatsoever on it being resolved easily or simply.

I was reading the accusations earlier and damn this dude is dumb if any of it is true. Going to legit massage therapists and personal trainers and pulling his ding dong out flailing around trying to hit their hands with it? Busting his business on a couple of them as he turned over? What the absolute hell!

You've got to figure it's some kind of fetish or addiction or psychological problem or something.

I've been wondering if, at some point, Watson's defense would turn into "yes technically he did it but he has a problem so it isn't really his fault". Hasn't gone that way so far but I'd say that's still a possibility.

Remember that abuse is cyclical. it’s a learned behavior.

it’s also usually a family member or very close associate, in a position of power, and usually male.

what I’m saying is deshaun absolutely learned this from Dabo and clemson should be show caused immediately.

So OJ didn't pay out any money for losing that case?

As mentioned the standards for guilt are much lower in civil cases vs criminal.

I wouldn't make any employment decisions on civil cases due to that.

The panthers have the info that no criminal charges have been filed and are or should be aware of innocent until proven guilty.

For elite players, teams bend the rules and are way more flexible with regards to character issues.

As if I am an owner or a fan, I am just trying to win. I don't chore boys. So long as they have a clean criminal record and or did their time for past transgressions, I am good.

OJ paid millions to the Brown family. Yo I think he did it though and his family sued in civil court, so they couldn’t have been been hungry leaches as you want to pain civil Palintiffs. So would you have signed him? Of course not, it would be completely stupid. As it is with Deshaun until we know what the truth is.

Again, you’re looking at this completely wrong and far too black and white. The barometer isn’t whether he has been charged with a crime or not. Not all criminal allegations are the same. Cam had a criminal record, I assume you were fine with that? Of course you were because it was a silly college age transgression. While Watson’s hasn’t risen to a criminal level he is facing serious sexual misconduct allegations by dozens of women. That’s serious. You dont touch that until it’s resolved.

I’m not asking for choir boys, but you have to draw the line somewhere. You can’t have the face of your franchise be a sexual predator. You’re clearly very invested in this from a fan perspective and can’t weight the serious business and public pressure that comes from this. I highly doubt the Panthers will move on this front until this is resolved.

Hey look another allegation. This one isn’t even suing.

Once you start throwing out terms like sexual predator, sex offender, etc. it looks pretty grim.

You can't trade for that guy. I'm not even sure you can keep that guy if you've already got him.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
