REPORT: Panthers remain interested in Deshaun Watson trade

The price may drop for his services via trade, but is it worth it? I guess if we miss out on a QB in the draft Tepper will remain fixated on Watson, unless he is behind bars. I hope he would wait until the truth comes out to try to make any kinds of moves.

Watson should have never signed that contract extension with a racist pos owner running the show. He should have kept his head down played on the tag and hit FA when he could.

FYI: Latest lawsuit filed today includes charges by a second woman alleging that Watson tried to force her to perform oral sex on him.

Also that he forced her to put her hand inside his anus.

I know what they meant but I’m going to assume deshaun is actually a power bottom.

Up to 22 now and one of them says it happened this month and after the allegations.

No way we can touch this now

I don't think anybody can until there's some sort of resolution.

You'd have to be a complete moron to trade for somebody with stuff like this hanging over his head.

Sure did.

Drew Bledsoe was a four time Pro-Bowl player, so he was a very solid NFL QB. At the moment, Watson's stats through the first four years(with less games played than Drew) are mostly ahead of Bledsoe's. Pretty stark differences in efficiency ratings, TD:INT ratio, etc. Comparable at some level but Watson is on a pretty accelerated track to eclipse him and leave him behind.

Hate to throw fire on the discussion as only an occasional lurker, but you'd have to be a complete moron to trade for somebody with this many accusations out there - regardless of whether the league eventually lets him off with some slap on the wrist penalty.

"Elitist *sshole" or not, I'd never support an organization that put winning at all costs ahead of the optics of a situation like this. Having to explain to my kid why I wouldn't buy him a Panthers jersey with Watson's name on it shouldn't be a conversation I feel like anyone should ever need to have - and I don't have kids.

Watson should have understood how easily situations like this could arise - even if parts of this are overblown - and from an ownership/management standpoint I sure as *ell wouldn't want him around my family and employees who could sue me for millions in the event he's STILL not clear on what acceptable behavior is following this mess.

Even if you could get him for a 7th rounder, you’d still be on the hook for his 10 mill in salary this year.

10 mil for a guy who is most likely going to end up on the exempt list.

Is he worth the cap and PR hit? That’s a tough decision.

Remember, a player still gets paid if they are on the exempt list.

If there’s no trade market, the Texans will have to decide if they want to pay his salary this year or cut him.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
    • Totally possible imo, I also caught that snippet from Morgan where he said “If” we sign him. The lack of competition says otherwise tho 🤷‍♂️
