The core we have is still melting down in Chernobyl.

But seriously, the overall roster isn't THAT bad, but it's not competing without a QB. Put Teddy back out there and we're right back in this same situation again next year. Likely sitting with a pick in the bottom portion of the top 10 drooling over the QBs we can't draft.

Panthers are 100% trading down IMO.

Think about it.  Panthers could have easily beat this deal.  We have the #8 overall pick.  The fact that we didn't tells me:

A) We are 100% comfortable waiting out the Deshaun Watson situation.  And if we can somehow accumulate future picks if this lasts past the draft?  Then so be it.  But we clearly expect Watson to be available at some point.

B) We didn't think, given the state of our team, it was worth trading up a lot for one of the rookies.  And that is okay.  Difference between trading for Watson and trading for the potential of Wilson/Lance/Fields.

I get the frustration.  But I think we need to relax.  The coaches did a phenomenal job last year and at the end of the day, coaching always prevails.  We will find our QB, it might not be this year but it will happen.  You can take me to the bank on that too.

If we DO draft a QB at #8, then we're probably talking Lance vs. Jones.  And if that is the case, I want Jones.  He gets a lot of undue crap.  Yes his ceiling is questionable, undoubtedly his biggest flaw, but his mental/field processing + accuracy is tops in this draft, even ahead of Lawrence.

But I see us trading down or selecting a LT/DB.  MAYBE a wide receiver... I think people are sleeping on that possibility.

    • Number 9  Carolina Panthers  Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, produced career highs in completion percentage (63.6%), passing yards per game (188.2) and passing touchdowns (23) in 2025. However, those numbers aren't exactly stellar by NFL quarterbacking standards. Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down. He threw for the third-fewest passing yards by a quarterback to make the playoffs in the last 20 seasons, per CBS Sports Research.  FEWEST PASSING YARDS BY QB TO REACH PLAYOFFS, LAST 20 SEASONS (MIN. 16 STARTS) PASSING YARDS PLAYOFF WINS 2012 Christian Ponder (MIN) 2,935 0 2008 Joe Flacco (BAL) 2,971 2 2025 Bryce Young (CAR) 3,011 0 2006 Steve McNair (BAL) 3,050 0 2019 Josh Allen (BUF) 3,089 0 Young did deliver some high highs, like when he threw for a franchise-record 448 yards passing in a Week 11 overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons and when he went toe-to-toe with Stafford in the playoffs in a 34-31 defeat.  Kenny Pickett couldn't win the Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition a year ago, and Will Grier is a career backup. This is Young's team. • This is why we need the Bank of America Stadium Ballroom.
    • That thread has all the huddle legends either posting in it or mentioned in it. I remember everyone of those folks and I truly miss seeing them post here. This place was so much better with them here.
