What are we doing in the draft?

That might be one of the worst points ever. There’s a difference between having a mediocre LT and having all 5 starters injured and backups playing at every spot. Mahomes wasn’t playing behind a below average OL, he was playing with a line of backups. Our OL is vastly better than an OL of all backups. Every OL in the NFL including the Chiefs starters was better than that OL.

Cam’s OL in 2015 was ranked top 2. Did you even watch that year? Our IOL was extremely talented. All have been pro bowlers or all pros and they were really good that year. Crappy OL on the #1 scoring offense led by Stewart, Gunn, Cotchery, Funchess and Olsen? The OL play and Cam were a huge part of the success. Yes, Denver had the edge rushers to counteract out tackles when we decided to leave them one on one. Coaching lost us the SB and of course some terrible calls by Broncos fan replay officials.

Our OT were trash. Where are you getting top 2 ranked OL?

Source and context?

Top 2 in what? Run block? Pass block? Combined?

Etc

I believe the Panthers will take the highest rated player available in the draft in spite of need

i believe they will find line help (o and d)  in RD 2 and down

if their highest rated player be it tackle, cb. TE, WR isn’t there at 8, they will trade down

highest rated equals a player who can change a game

I know some think that’s stating the obvious but with DJ going into a contract year, drafting the top rated WR is not out of the question, and get a OT in RD 2, is not out of the question

would I run for a LT, yes, but their are salary cap and ability to resign issues to consider too

I personally love that we have no idea what the Panthers are thinking. That means other teams don't either.

I just hope that it doesn't mean that the front office doesn't know either.

If you only watched the SB, then you thought our OTs were trash. If you watched all the games, you certainly didn't think they were trash. Remmers was 22-2 as the starting RT before the SB. Oher was very solid pass blocking all year. In the SB, we put them on islands versus likely (if Miller lasts two more years) two of the top 20 sack leaders all time. Yes, our IOL was the strength, no doubt, but we walked into the SB with no plan to try and counter the guys who the game before hit Brady 11 times for 3 sacks. They hit Cam 6 times for 4.5 sacks. Our coaches were downright morons and Denver players even told us that they knew what we'd do.

Here's one ranking right here where we were #2 going into 2016: https://www.pff.com/news/pro-ranking-all-32-offensive-lines-this-season

We were consistently ranked in the top 5 in every 2015 rankings as an overall OL.

Fowler: Panthers have sold they'd be willing to draft a QB if one falls to #8, people around the league aren't buying that and believe Carolina is a team that would be willing to move down in round 1

Moving down would be so damn smart

    • I really loved how he jumped up and made the one on one tackle on Kamara. Another play of his that impressed me was fighting off the block and drawing a holding call trying to make a tackle. Donte has really stepped up and bought into the system.
    • To be fair, on the double coverage pass to DJ, he threw a dart. Agreed he could’ve thrown to a different receiver but it was actually a nice pass.
    • No way do I trade 2 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder for Tunsil or really any LT at this point. It's great that we are 2-0 and our defense is solid, pass protection is decent and Brady seems to be scheming to get the ball out pretty quickly and Darnold seems to have a good feel for what is going on in the pocket.  Our biggest issue is run blocking and a LT isn't going to fix that.  It's the guards and center that have to win those battles.  I hope we build from within, let's see Brown eventually and give Christensen a chance.  Also, we may want to do more of a zone blocking scheme when running pulling the guards and loading up one side of the line of scrimmage especially with all our TEs.  Still biggest problem is winning the line of scrimmage on 3rd and 4th and 1....Brady and Rhule have to know we can't win those with the interior line we have right now.
