Panthers trade for Sam Darnold

So basically a 2nd for the kid.

Now we pray that Fitts falls to us or just go OL right?  If Fitts or highest rated OL is gone, use the 8th to trade back as some have mentioned.  That 8th pick is still worth a lot.

They must’ve really hated Teddy, because this is quite a downgrade and waste of picks.

I wonder who they’d eyeing in the 1st.

I don't see as a downgrade. Physically Darnold is ahead of Teddy, age wise as well. Put Teddy B on the Jets and he doesn't get a win. This is a lateral move at worst.

I would’ve gladly traded a 2, 4, 6 to move up for someone who can be truly special at the QB position rather than settling for long shot game manager

this may be the worst move this team has ever made, if one of these QBs goes on to be great, and at least one certainly will, we will always have to sit back and wonder what could’ve been

Good trade. 2nd round pick on a 23 year old QB flyer that has had great stretches of games before but was in a terrible organization like....Robby Anderson

Now get Slater, Sewell or Pitts and lets go

How about Jamar Chase and just kill people on offense every game?

ugh things really haven’t bottomed out yet have they

were being poorly ran

I don’t hate this move really. I get people are disappointed because it is Sam Darnold but the potential is there for him to make a turn around. The fact that we get to surround him with Moore, CMC and Joe Brady gives me some hope.

if we add slater, Sewell, chase or Pitts, Darnold may not have to do a whole lot but get the ball out quick to his playmakers.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
