As a guy who negotiates for a living I just don't understand giving up so much. I literally read we were the only ones interested or "bidding" so why in the world do you offer a second? Id start off offering a fourth and wait through the draft (when they would've still traded him after) and go from there.... I just feel like Tepper is waayyyy too jumpy rn. And why not just trade up to 5?

According to Schefter that’s exactly where it started, a fourth. And ended up at a 6th and a couple future picks.

It isn’t too much in a world where the rights to Mac Jones commands 3 first round picks.

Just cause one team does something insane...INSANE doesnt mean that becomes the new normal. Panthers seem to work off what the Dolphins traded for Sam Rosen...... whom the Phins cut within one year too.... Wouldnt shock me if that happened here with Darnild too..

The jets could get a 3rd round comp pick next year .... so the value was atleast 3rd round next year .. I say its better then paying 3 plus 1st for unproven rookie .. wish it was just a 2nd . But it is what it is .. I trust the staff !! Go panthers

You think their starting offer was a second rounder?

A second and a fourth is quite a bit?  Also, I read we will not be picking up his option??? Im so confused

I read that we are picking up his option. And a second and fourth in the future is a third and fifth in the now. Not that valuable.

It's about coaching, not stats.

Rhule and co think that they unlock the talent in Darnold, Elflein and Erving. That's why Tepper paid him $72m.

I hope he can......many have already failed... Our OL came for SD(now LA), he didnt turn water into wine at any point. Those three have already had a few coaches and gone no where but the rock-bottom in most of the ranking/grading/metrics in three full years. Its a huge accomplishment each kept getting starts, HUGE!!

    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
    • I basically made almost the exact predictions on a phone call with a buddy about 3 weeks ago. I really do expect Evero gone before the seasons end, Young to just not able to get over the hump enough and DC to head into next season on a VERY hot seat.
