"Advanced Analytics" LMAO. Dumb thread is dumb. Dumb thread creator is dumber.

I remember comment from years ago where someone said "intellectuals are people who study what others do naturally'.

The thing about analytics is that they're used to measure individuals, when as often as not it's more accurately a team measure.

Take completion percentage. There are way too many variables on any given play to use completion percentage as a true measure of how good a quarterback is.

That's why I prefer true personnel evaluation to looking at a spreadsheet.

PFO does, I believe, on target throws and adjusted completion percentage based on throws that were catchable but coverage was extremely tight or the WR dropped the ball.

OK so I did some digging. Some actual advanced metrics for Darnold are not good:

https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2021/failed-completions-2020

32/36 on failed completion % (one better than Teddy)

35/36 on successful completion % (7 worse than teddy)

I really don't think Darnold is the answer guys. I think we're in QB purgatory for at least one more year.

Who was he throwing to?  Who was calling plays? Who was blocking for him?

It's going to be at least 2 more years, and that's if he doesn't improve to just being league average bad, not league leading horrific that he's been his first 3 years in the NFL. My reasoning is he looks a lot like the typical Carolina white guy, and that goes a loooong way with fan approval. There's going to be some diehard defenders for some atrocious quarterbacking.

Listen to what Cosell has to say about Darnold. Eisen keeps throwing excuses at him about the coaching, scheme, weapons and protection, Cosell basically says he’s the one make them look bad, he’s having trouble completing rudimentary plays.

Agreed, I'm still not sold it's going to work out though.

My expectations are so low that I can only be pleasantly surprised, so I have that going for me which is nice.
