Optimistic or pessimistic?

Fairly apathetic to be honest. I honestly don't think we're making smart moves right now but we still have the draft. It's just hard to be optimistic when the franchise history doesn't give much reason to support it and I've grown weary of being pessimistic after this latest trade so I'm kinda just laying back  at this point hoping for the best while fully expecting the worst. So, we'll see...

im not quite sure what better moves they could have made on defense.

The Bouye move is going to depend on contract. We're going into next season relying on a lot of players with significant injury histories. That usually ends up predictably. Bouye is coming off of both an injury and a down season while he was on the juice. That's a big red flag. I hope the deal is cheap. Worthwhile gamble if it is.

Reddick played all 16 games last season, and has never missed a game in 4 seasons.

Denzel Perryman.....Reddick has never missed a game in his pro career.

also who cares about money? the cap isn't real

The Reddick signing was great. The rest suspect at best

I really liked the Morgan Fox signing as well, but like you said the rest of them are going to be largely dependent on if these guys can stay healthy/perform at a level they were at or close to before. I'm cautiously optimistic but not ready to start celebrating quite yet.

Whitehead was a miss but we had quite of few additions that surprised us.  I hope we that these additions were not just names but players we targeted.

I've always been an optimistic person.  Fitterer and Rhule hopefully have a plan and these players pan out.

Defensively I think we have added some good pieces.

The draft I still think will be mostly on offense but not completely especially in the latter rounds.

Every year I go in hoping we will be competitive and win and make the playoffs.

Ya never know.

Fox looks positive, not nearly as sexy as Reddick but positive.

The rest is suspect to normal cheap swings at any positives. Still a lot of holes if you do not go by the warm body theory of management.

TE is going to be upgraded some, but we still do not have that weapon we are used to.

[gasps]   Are you kidding me?  We have the TE position well in hand.  “Darnold to Dan Arnold” sounds beautiful, melodious, almost poetic.  It is a thing of beauty.

    • Would fill the last major hole on the roster outside of LT heading into the draft. Richardson has never completely lived up to the hype, but I think he is still a starting caliber player. And I'm still down for Short too (at a much reduced price). Once we solidify DT, I'm feeling pretty good about the roster, especially on defense.  Our secondary is still unproven, but there is a lot more talent to work with than at any point since 2017. I think Phil Snow made a lot of chicken salad with chicken crap last year, and I'm genuinely excited to see what he can do with more talent. Then it comes back to the offense... can we protect Darnold and can Darnold prove that the Jets held him back and not the other way around? We have the playmakers on offense to score if so. This year feels a lot more unpredictable than last IMO... I honestly could see anywhere from 4 wins (if Darnold sucks) to up to 11 wins (based on 17 game season) if Brady/Rhule can help Darnold become the QB he was projected to be. Darnold is obviously a much more boom-or-bust prospect than Teddy ever was or will be. We've all seen Darnold make the elite-arm talent throws but also the boneheaded plays that are almost as egregious as the Mark Sanchez butt-fumble... hopefully it's just the curse of the Jets But back to the point, I would be totally cool with a 1-year deal for Richardson, and I'm sure Fitts & Co are looking into it... Burns, Brown, Richardson, and Reddick is a legitimate D-Line... Shaq, Perryman, and Chinn is the most intriguing LB corp we have had in a while I'm still not sure how the secondary ultimately shakes out, but that would be a massive improvement for the Front 7 at a minimum.
    • that was hero ball. Oline gave up, they put PJ walker in at last min, when the game was already over. And he still push the ball downfield. Pj walker has showed potential, and I think he'll get more opportunity come 2021.
