From what I've read, I think it's probably true.

I also suspect it might be one of the reasons why Marty doesn't work here anymore.

It's not Huddle lore. Rhule said in an interview after Marty was fired that he was interested in trading down and Marty taught him that when your guy is there you need to take him (referring to Brown). Something to that effect.

One thing is certain, its Surtain/Horn and then there is a gap between them and the CBs available in the later rounds

Disagree. I think Newsome and Stokes are gonna be just as good. Maybe not as soon, but with a year or two, they will be right there with them.

You could be right, im just speaking in terms of the draft. Nobody is taking newsome and stokes that early

Why, because he clashed with Rhule?

I think Brown was a great pick. We desperately needed a DT and this years class is terrible.

Hopefully, Marty’s overall record of roster building is what got him fired.

    • But that would run counter to a lot of basic logic.  Frank Reich largely had an ideal QB he had worked with…and Reich world people were beating that drum loudly during the draft process that CJ Stroud fit what Frank would want/need.  And reporting also was signaling there was a split in house and Tepper wanted Young. We ended up with Young.
    • There's more to coaching than play calling, even down on the field. Madden isn't going to simulate how your WR1 had a big fight with his wife the night before the game and is stiff from sleeping on the couch. It's not going to simulate that the fight was because the QB's wife was flirting with the WR and now, because she went full on ballistic that the QB now knows about it. It's not going to simulate that questionable bucket of wings your o-line shared three hours before the game is now causing cramps and gas. It's also not going to simulate the real wear and tear of the season and how about December even the moderately good teams are about halfway spending their brain power on picking their January vacation destinations. But for a video game, it's pretty good.
    • Last Madden I played was 17, got this for like 10-12 bucks a few months ago and its a great improvement imo. I havent had to touch the sliders much.
