He was a very good receiver playing for less than stellar QB's.

I thought that was probably Gettleman's biggest screwup as a GM.  Our secondary went from a fairly strong unit to one of the worst in the NFL in one offseason.

Smitty with Matt Ryan as QB his whole career would have been huge for him.

I agree, wholeheartedly. I still remember when the news hit on TV, I couldn't believe he rescinded the tag from Norman. What in the actual fug was he thinking?

He probably had to sign Kalil. Ryan was promoting him and JR was still the owner. Im not so sure his hand was not forced.

I don't think he was the "forced" GM. His moves were his own. 

Hence why he was ultimately released, he didn't bend the knee. However, he did ultimately deserve to be jettisoned on his own merits.

True, he did get flushed for not wanting to extend the old vet favs.

Either way it was a colossal failure and he has been worse with the NYG.

I believe Julio’s 300 yard game was when he had an injured Bene, rookie Zach Sanchez, and rookie Daryl Worley covering him. Bradberry who had been doing well that season was out that game. 

Homerism or not, 89 over everyone else in the history of the NFCS since 02. He played on a run-first team and carried the team until Cam came along.

Bradberry was active and got hurt right away, like on the first drive. 
 

There is no way Bene covering Julio was in the game plan that week and it showed.

Really just depends. Since the best ones are still playing (Jones and Evans), who are both on track to be better than Smitty. Smitty is not the best WR or even second IMO. We can go back and forth with excuses and justifications all day long but those are the facts.

That is one player.  Our secondary was ripped apart with only Coleman remaining, replaced with rookies,  and gave some of the worst performances as a unit in Panthers history.
