Developmental / bottom of the roster player we carry this year?

Who do you think we carry at the bottom of the roster this year as a developmental guy / hope he develops player?

To me it sounds like that might be (or the team hope its to be) Ian Thomas but I could see them also taking a shot on Christian Miller's development over a season.

I'm assuming we'll keep a young TE rather than Thomas has our #3 TE. Sullivan, Ricci, Thompson or someone else we pickup later to develop. Also if David Moore and Deonte Brown do not break into the lineup i'd assume we'd keep them to develop along the O-line.

If Thomas doesn't make the roster I think it's time to cut strings and allow some younger players to fill our bottom roster and practice squad.

I'm looking forward to seeing Miller do well.

I think Thomas is going to be gone, and we only carry two TE's.  I would drop the fullback position have Tremble on H'back duties and we use that extra spot to put in David Moore on the Oline.  If we put Moore on the PS he will be gone.  In my mind we should have drafted him.

I think we've carried Ian Thomas' development as far as we can. If he isn't there by this point, well, let's grab someone with potential left.

Miller may be ready to go and make an impact now. We really know nothing about him anymore.

That last roster spot, though, should really go to an undrafted rookie. I'm hoping OL David Moore gets to hang on. There's some old dudes and some injured dudes ahead of him on the roster, he could see himself move up quickly. LB Paddy Fisher could also be that guy. Some fellows ahead of him on prove it kind of deals. Solid back-up and special teamer could be a good role.

I really don't see Ian Thomas getting cut... how often does a young starter from last season go from starter to cut during camp?

Was he a starter last year because he won the job, or because he was the only guy left?

If he can't beat out the guys we brought in you absolutely cut him.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Fisher.  His combine wasn't awesome but he's got a nose for the ball.  I'd like to see him make it too, but don't see him beating out Carter at this point.  Maybe.

I can't see us keeping Moore and Fisher though.  To make that happen there would be a surprise vet cut somewhere.

Shi Smith and Keith Taylor. Both late round draft picks. Both probably looking at being no higher than 4th on the depth chart within their position group. But both with considerable NFL upside IMO and both with the tools to be immediate impact players on ST too to secure their roster spots this year.

I agree completely plus Manhertz was actually the starter on the depth chart for most of the year--Thomas was #2

    • Exactly. How would a chip in the ball know when a player was down? That element will absolutely still be a referee determination.
