Teams draft rankings 2016-2020. Avg value - Expected value. Panthers are.....

Obviously, as a team you want to be above average, but what this does say is that our drafts haven't been the dumpster fire we sometimes make them out to be.  Our drafts have been perfectly average.

I'd be curious to see the year by year breakdown.  I suspect last years draft may have covered up some below average performances prior.

There doesn't seem to be much correlation between this chart and how teams actually played. Plus it has no predictive value regarding the future. Tampa is on the below average list but they go all in in 2020 and win a Superbowl. Seattle who is below average consistently fields good teams while Washington, Atlanta and Miami suck yet are in the above average group.

It isn't the.methodology that is the problem as much as it only presents the past not the present or the future and really isn't germaine to us given we have new people is all of our key roles. So posters saying this shows we will be average in 2021 because of this chart are connecting things which are only tangentially connected at best. And given teams improve through free agency as much or more than the draft, it is very limited in its value and usefulness.

The majority of Huddlers LOVE living in the past, so I'm surprised they're not eating this up! I guess being middle-of-the-pack is kinda boring...if we were in the 30-32 range, I am sure this thread would be at least 14 pages long.

8-9 would be Tepper's best-ever win percentage tho

I don't blame him yet. If Rhule/Fitt fail then I'll start blaming him.

I can't blame him for getting conned in to a few years of Hurney/Rivera. I'm sure they told him all the problems was JR/Gettleman's fault and they could get us back to the promised land.

I have to keep reminding people, Trepper was approved owner about 2 months before the start of training camp. So youre telling me he should have fired the whole staff day one?? Imagine firing the whole staff right now, this is about the same time-line til TC. So he had to at least keep them one year. Team had vets, Cam, luke, and other talents. Team loved Ron at the time and on paper they looked like a playoff team that could go rounds if need. It didnt work, but I understand about keeping Ron.

Herniay is among the worlds best brown-nosers on earth, fully fooled Trepper. Trepper while owned 5% of the steelers didnt have day-2-day involment for football decisons. He didnt rush in and act like he knew everything. His only mistake was keeping herniay that extra yeat after firing RR. But he was under a "best college evaluator" spell cast by king brown nose Herniay, it happens.

    • We agree here dawg. I'd love for Bryce to succeed as would all huddlers. I have not seen a single huddler hate Bryce for anything other than his play on the field / potential / skillset. He hasn't gotten any of the irrational hate having nothing to do with football that Cam got. And yeah I understood going into this season with Bryce again as there weren't a ton of options, but man we missed the fuging mark on upgrading at backup QB with someone who could actually push Bryce. Bryce had zero pressure on him with a 100% washed up Dalton being the only other NFL caliber QB in the system. That absolutely needs to change this offseason. Ideally with an actual starter upgrade but that seems extremely unlikely due to not having many FA options and a bad draft. But at the very least with someone like you mentioned, young/upside and/or day 3 pick in the draft.   Another note, we have a top paid and top performing OL, great young talent at WR incl. likely OROY, great RB group, average all around TE group, offensive coach with creativity in the system and good play designs (poor situational playcalling but still I put out current offensive coaching staff over Shula who held Cam back for instance). Not the absolute best situation for a QB to be in, but still a very good situation around him. And yet we have a bottom 8 offense (6th lowest points scored). Imagine taking a victory lap for a QB leading his team to the 6th lowest points scored in the league and the 22nd highest passer rating (despite being asked to do less than many other QBs; i.e. Bo Nix who isn't great either and has a slightly lower passer rating but Sean Payton actually lets him try to throw the ball deep and has him throw significantly more than Bryce). Crazy
    • similar to Atlanta and the NHL.  Atlanta has lost two NHL teams (and lost a minor leaguer).  Now there's another coalition pulling together another proposal for Atlanta to get an NHL expansion. While I'd like hockey to be back in Atlanta 'cause hockey is fun, I am skeptical that it'll happen based on previous teams' experience here alternatively: similar to Atlanta hosting a Major Tennis Tournament in advance of the US Open every mid/late summer.  Aside from the fact that Atlanta is said to be the country's largest Tennis playing city (with both USTA and ALTA, along with a number of side leagues) - playing tennis outdoors in Atlanta summer is miserable *and* they had difficulty attracting players... ticket sales were not good. So the Atlanta Open closed after 14 years.  They just couldn't make it happen, even if for all intents it appears to be massive tennis interest in the surrounding area.
    • So I saw where Luke was doing that show parallel to the game. Whatever it was, statcast something something, knew it would be a good watch. I don’t get ESPN any more but that would be one of the about few things I would watch outside of games.     He doesn’t fool around on the radio broadcast.
