Talk to me how you are feeling about the Hornets now.

As far as I could tell last season, Center was the biggest need. Just not an adequate big man there to anchor the team. I think I saw where the Hornets traded for a center. Talk to me about where my excitement level should be at this point.

I was happy with the 2 guys we picked - for sure the 1st round trade value will depend on the future first pick but as it stands I am pretty happy with Kai Jones' upside.  And the second round trade I absolutely love.  Those put them in a much stronger position in terms of signing free agents like Bis, Zeller, Graham, Rosier also if these rookies are solid.

Most of all I am happy our first pick is a legit scorer - the Hornets have drafted "potential" scorers for years so it is nice get a strong scorer and 2 athletic guys that can run with Melo to build around him.

They should have your interest. The Hornets have been much more entertaining than the Panthers the last couple of years.

Monk was supposed to have been that too. And like Monk, he fell in the draft. That gives me a bit of a pause instead of being super happy with the pick.

That is a pretty apples to oranges comparison to make - Monk was only a jump shooter coming out not really a "scorer" or starting caliber SG.  He had 1 year at Kentucky with alot of "potential" but he wasn't ready to start.  Bouknight is an all-around proven SG and scorer instead of just a streaky shooter.  He is much further along than Monk was at the draft....and hopefully mature enough not to smoke and get suspended every year.

They pretty much all smoke. There was something more to that story that never came out I feel.

Could be - but the fact that suspensions significantly affected Monk's development and haven't happened to Bouknight yet still makes it more likely not to happen.

Perhaps the biggest benefit of this draft is it sets us up with a lot of flexibility. Suddenly, we don’t need to panic about Monk/Rozier/Graham. We landed a lights out scorer who can play the 2 and we can move these guys in trades if we feel we can’t hang onto them etc.

Grabbing Kai Jones was massive. Once Bouknight fell I knew he had to be the pick. He was just simply the best player on the board. But up until that point, I was all in on Jones just for his potential. He won’t make a big immediate impact but he could absolutely be out starting 4/5 in a couple of seasons. His size and athleticism is unreal. He is 6’11 but runs like a gazelle. He needs to add weight but can run the floor and jump out of the building.

Imo, we landed two future starters in this draft with tons of potential. We added it to an already young and talented core. For the first time, it feels like MJ has a team Charlotte can be proud of for a long time.

I find it very concerning that Kai Jones couldn’t even get big minutes in college and didn’t produce much.  Guy was a sophomore too not some frosh just out of high school.  Kup saw him extensively so I guess there is something there.  The rest of the picks made sense and the team is definitely deeper after last night.

    • Ok.  I see that signs may not obstruct others view.  That seems to be a pretty large sign, and since they are in the front, if they were to hold it up, I feel it would obstruct others view. I don't see the point in holding the sign in their laps. If I were in securities shoes, I would just tell them to put it up, so that I don't have to keep a constant eye on them because not everyone listens and will just wait until I turn my back to raise the sign again.  I see no point in holding a sign on your lap where it can not be seen unless you are just waiting to break the rules again. The amount of time they have "gotten away" with this is still irrelevant.  For all we know, someone complained they could not see because of the sign.
    • Cows fan with just some info.      Some good points from y'all but some that are poorly thought out too.   Dallas played the last game (Jets, 0-4) with 4 OL starters out, Cee Dee Lamb out, #3 WR Kavontae Turpin out (he's also the League's #1 returner), #2 RB Miles Sanders out (avg 5.8 ypc).  Dak is playing very well as is Javonte Williams and George Pickens.   Cows have a lot of offensive depth and talent and are/were the #1 offense in the League.  416 yards last week and close to another 40 burger.  They suck on D ! DC Matt Eberflus plays a very soft over the top zone.  Russell Wilson (NYGiants) shredded the Cow's D for 450 passing yards  (I think there were 7 plays of 30+ yards).  In the 2nd half of the Fudge Packers game Dallas D never got a stop thus there was a tie (40-40).  With only a D ranked around the middle of the NFL pack Dallas could probably be 4-1.   Their D sux badly.   They did get a few sacks (5) against Justin Fields last Sunday in NJ otherwise they gave up 380 yards against the Jets.   We are very familiar with Rico Dowdle.
