The Fields fan boys are going to be riding higher than Willie Nelson.

I will take the same approach I did last year with Track in college. I won't get too up or too down. This was a good start but hopefully he can get time with the first team in preseason so we can see him with real talent around him going against other real talent.

I have never seen a guy get so wide open that he could jog backwards into the end zone

OSU ran this play, the opposite direction, against Clemson in their playoff game last year. Rucker was super wide open as well. I think its because typically you don't teach a QB to roll one way and throw back the other.

Anyone else seeing this? Looks like a kid out there, throwing off his back foot recklessly, just fumbled a snap and then fumbled while scrambling.

Not impressed at all, may have dodged a bullet.

Why are you ripping on the Panthers QB?  Its like you're not even a fan.

Are you sure this isn't an overly dramatic post? I mean 5 years. C'mon man

Yes 5 years. If we’re lucky.

2 years trying to win with Darnold.

Another 3 years hoping to draft a rookie as good as Fields and going through his growing pains.

Thats only if we nail the pick. Was just a dumb decision by a staff that’s probably in over their heads.

I dunno about 5+ years but you take franchise type qbs when they fall into your lap. I think we still will have an opportunity. But it’s not looking good.

rhules mentality of Darnold+ Horn vs a qb draft pick is the type of mentality that can get you fired in the nfl. Love Horn and think he’s gonna be a baller but you gotta take the qb that has the ability to transform your franchise. Hope Darnold works out.

No matter how good you think Horn is you take the QB everytime. You can one day win a Super Bowl with Fields. Only way you’re winning anything meaningful with Darnold is if he’s your backup. Darnold is a guy who would be a top tier back up, but he’s not a starter.

1 year, maybe just half this year trying to win with Darnold...but have no fear...

And after trading for the number 1 draft pick in 2022, the Carolina Panthers select Malik Willis QB Liberty

You know to make up for that HUGE mistake last year...

One is probably going to be Howell or Rattler because of Liberty’s competition. IF Darnold looks like old Darnold, I would love to get Willis especially if we can do it without having to give away a ton of assets.

He’s more than likely not. I’m a panther fan so the fan in me is hopeful that a qb friendly system and working with better coaches can turn on a switch for him. It’s just very unlikely.

And I won’t give concrete predictions like we can one day win a super bowl if we drafted fields. But I do like the odds more with fields then Darnold. Or fields at the very least being a better and more consistent qb long term.

the quarterback is the most important position in the nfl for long term success in the salary cap era and the best chance to consistently get to the super bowl. History shows this. So I really dislike rhules mentality of 2 > 1. This is the nfl not college. Not finding a franchise qb will get rhule fired. He has two more years after this one for me before I want him gone.

    • I don't understand the tone, I gave you my ranking, that's it.  And yes, I still view Lawrence and Kyler are still ahead, in my opinion, which doesn't really mean much lol.  What's this have to do with being a fan ffs? I will say, they are at the end of the list/the more arguable/debatable guys.  So open to debate but it seems you're going straight to the "you're not a fan" debate.  Which is super annoying. Maybe I'd agree Bryce could be ~19-20 on the list if the argument was laid out instead.  His Atlanta game was better than anything they have done in recent memory, but he's had like 10 other games this season.   He is way more inconsistent in my view, due to a few factors... Shotty footwork - he has a shallow lazy step back from gun that puts an OL in an impossible place.  Goes on his toes wayyy to much more my liking. Poor upper body mechanics.  His upper body remains parallel to the LOS and has to perform that rapid twitch/turn motion to get in stance His shallow drops also create a lack of sight lines so he can't layer throws well He's had poor pocket presence - not last week, but it's been a thing   Pure traits standpoint Arm strength is mediocre Mobility is mediocre - can outrun at times but quicker IDLs can catch him Accuracy is a range due to his inconsistency - can be above average to very poor.  His career so far has been pretty bad with intermediates (which again was not the case against ATL) Ball Security Way too sensitive to fumbling Has exhibited very poor decision making, especially in first halves that put the team behind This all does NOT take away that he had a GREAT performance against ATL.  He was able to extend plays, found guys post-route in stride, the XL throw in Q3 was fantastic, a few of the Coker crossers were beauts.  There's no disputing that.   But yeah, in totality, it hasn't looked good but he absolutely cooked last week. Outside of that, he's only had 5 other 250 yard passing games in his entire career.  He stalls on drives, makes annoying turnovers, doesn't see the right guys.  It's okay to both say that and the fact that he balled tf out last week.  I hope he continues so we get better and maybe can make some noise.  Big test on Monday.
    • Actually that part abuot the Bears is not my opnion. I was watching some show and they were talking about how lucky the Bears have been this year. That's the only reason I brought it up.
