Panthers coach Matt Rhule isn't concerned that the Steelers aren't playing most or any of their starters tonight . He feels he will get a good evaluation of quarterback Sam Darnold and his starters - minus Christian McCaffrey. The running back is not expected to play. As Rhule has noted, McCaffrey will take enough hits during the season.

Has David found out if Sam finally got the 2nd-half of his couch yet?    🙃

Serious question for my Charlotte & NC folks:

im sure you know some people who “grew up” as steelers fans like I did but does anyone know a steelers fan that was actually from Pitt or WPA?

Steeler and Cowboy fans are just like Duke BBall fans - nobody knows anyone who actually attended Duke lol

I know or work with several people that grew up around Pittsburgh before migrating to Wilmington. My brother, on the other hand, grew up in SE NC, and is a life long Steelers fan going back to the days of the steel curtain. Hell, I don't think he's ever even been to Pittsburgh, but he is fat, loud and pasty, so he fit's the fan base.

I laughed so hard at this, I snorted. Very unladylike.

This is to let you know, im a Jet fan, member of Jet Nation, wishing Sam the best in Carolina. Wanted the Jet's to keep Sam and draft Pitts, and hopefully gathering a few more picks. Been at war with Jet nation board members as to why Sam failed there.

10. Brian Burns to win Defensive Player of the Year (+12500, or 125-1)
This is one where I had to look up the odds about 12 different times to make sure I wasn’t missing something. There are currently 47(!) players with better odds for this award. Has no one watched Brian Burns play football?

He had 7.5 sacks and 16 QB hits as a rookie before bumping up to nine sacks and 21 QB hits last year. That was on a defense that couldn’t cover anyone. The advanced stats love Burns. ESPN tracks pass rush win rate, which measures how often a defender produces pressure within 2.5 seconds of the snap. Burns ranked fourth among edge defenders last year, ahead of guys like Joey Bosa and Chase Young. The film is impressive too. Burns has elite athleticism and an impressive arsenal of pass-rush moves.

At 23 years old, he’s primed for a monster season and could easily lead the league in sacks. Should Donald win Defensive Player of the Year every season? Probably. But if he doesn’t, Burns at these odds is the best bet

Not exactly… a  classmate in high school’s dad was from WPA.  That made them de facto Steeler fans.  Other than that?  Same reason we have Dallas and Washington fans.  It’s all they showed on TV.

    • it's pretty simple IMO.  The Tepper Panthers are the most unsuccessful professional sports in all of sports.  The problem isn't the posters here have changed.  The product dictates the atmosphere more than anything.  In reality, the daily convos about THE worst team in all of pro sports on a fanatics site....is going to feature harsh and critical convo.  Only one entity can actually change that.  It's the Carolina Panthers football team.
    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
