Biggest glaring redzone weakness?

I have no idea what this coaching staff has against thumpers and or goalinebacks but, it has been clear to me over the years CMC is fantastic in space* he can make the wow plays the eye opening catches.. but 4th and you gotta have it and they know it's coming... just isn't the situation you want to put him in.

If you want to throw him a swing or something on 4th. I'm all for it.. but don't just hammer him in there like Tolbert or cam we haven't had a presence like that since those guys left or Stewart for that matter. I'm not sure how we sign guys like arnold as backup tightens and gio the new designated fullback and no rb on the roster pushes 220( Royse freeman is 238)*.  

I'm not saying that hammering it in on 4th and 1 is the only way to go but you damn well better have the threat that you can muscle up and punch it in if need be. This role needs to be addressed in tight ball games or those situations could result in losses down the road.

IT'S definitely play calling they still try to get too cute.

We had a TD at the corner today with a good throw

and there were 3 guys on cmc in that formation that Sam ran in and scored on

we are so weak on middle of OL that it causes us tons of problems in short yardages

but I do think play calling is a huge culprit

The issue IS on the inside.

The Oline isn't blowing anyone off the ball. It's a finesse blocking scheme with finesse blockers. That's death in Goal-to-go situations unless you're able to pitch / toss it. 

As for Brady's playbook - he hasn't had those big targets. Darnold missed a throw to Marshall that should have been a TD. I don't know where Arnold was - I thought he was going to get targeted a lot in the RedZone.

middle of the line needs an upgrade 100% but you can still score in the RZ with that, just a bit more challenging. I dont like how we dont get to the outside with the ball in the RZ.

Ill be a bit more specific... Brady doesnt have a RZ fade in the playbook. I dont think we have had a single throw thrown under Brady where it was a 1 on 1 jump ball istuation in the corner of the RZ.

Im speaking for the entirety of our RZ issues, not today's. TBH if that fumble doesnt occur today... we are probably speaking positiviely about our RZ offense today.  I just wish we would focus on big targets in the RZ and setup 1:1 situations.

      So happy that LaMelo got the layup to go and *won* the game. How happy he was after the game, that's what a young dude like him needs to keep it going and keep the belief going. If we lose, LaMelo gets blamed, and he's got an offseason to be in his head and hear the noise like the last few years. The season might still have an ugly ending, but weirdly feels like last night was HUGE for this team moving forward.

      My thoughts on Carolina's post-season run: Obviously, the season began with a below average Freddie Andersen and everyone hoping Kochetkov would pick up the slack, until he got hurt. Enter Brandon Bussi who had a made-for-TV movie type run until the end of the season, when he came crashing back to earth, his save % drops under .900 and the team needs to score 5-6 goals to win games. Freddie has shown signs of a resurgence and Bussi looked pretty good the last 2 games of the season, but both sample sizes are small and questions abound for all 3 goalies. The physicality of playoff hockey will take its toll. Save for a few players, the Canes best players are small, their top 2 lines are small and there's no getting around that. The only way to protect the size disadvantage is a strong forecheck. Allowing opposing teams to establish the offensive zone and create board battles with smaller players will hurt Carolina. The Stankoven line could be a difference-maker. If they continue to play well against lower defensive pairs, it only adds to the depth of the team.  The Aho line had stretches of absenteeism during the season. The Canes cannot afford to have them dry up offensively and leave the scoring to Ehlers and the Stankoven line. If they aren't performing well, teams will simply roll their best lines out on the Canes best playing lines.  If the Canes can get by Ottawa and get some help from Boston against Buffalo, I think they have a legit shot to make the finals. Make no mistake, I think their toughest challenges are Ottawa and Buffalo in the East.
