Darnold vs Mayfield comparison

Point is, they adjusted. They all stepped up. Royce did well. Chuba did great and got more reliable as a receiver and runner. Sammy spread the ball and had a great 2nd half...without his "crutch". Brady adapted.

No reason to think they won't, with a few extra days, be able to roll into Dallas and roll out having conquered Texas.

Meh…even if he was kinda complimentary of Sam in a roundabout way, he still constantly felt the need to qualify it with “I’m not saying he’s great” and “he’s no Andrew Luck” (seriously? We’re still making Andrew Luck comparisons?). Definitely came across as more anti-Baker than pro-Sam. And the “only bottom-10 pass blocking o-line with a winning record” would be a pretty damn compelling stat if it wasn’t Week 3.

Believe me, his vitriol against Mayfield is so great, he’s had to temper his comments.  He absolutely believes Sam will be great, he’s a self professed “USC homer”, (even though he makes us cringe) had access to the FB program, coaches, players and practices….he loves Sam as a player and person, because he is polar opposite of the “La La land celebrity” QB.

A victory in Dallas would go a LOOOOONG way toward seeing what the Panthers REALLY HAVE with Sam.

The Texans game showed that he's got BALLS.

This is the guy whose been ridiculing Cam since he was a rookie and making excuses for Darnold since he was rookie.

Also Baker>>>>>>Sam. Anyone who knows anything about football all will tell you that.

Pretty much this. Mayfield has improved every year and is coming off a strong season.

Sam is playing better than his last seasons in NY. I don't understand why folks can't stick with that instead of trying to relitigate their pre draft predictions from 4 years ago.

Sam is averaging nearly 300 yds per game with the 31st ranked passing O-Line? That in itself should put you on the Darnold bandwagon regardless of how we finish the season.

If we somehow improve the O-line through the season and focus on O-line in the 2022 draft we could really have a well rounded team with Darnold at the helm.

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
