Dude was an absolute stud in college and his first few years with Dallas. What happened?  We should absolutely take a look at him. He would fit in beautifully with what we do on D.

What happened?  Gotta know your NFL.

Devastating knee injury in the Fiesta Bowl vs OSU.   ACL and LCL tears with nerve damage.  Cowboy's team physician did the repair.  Cowboys took him in the 2nd round (woulda been a top 10).  Didn't play at all in the 2016 season worked into the 2017 season with a foot brace (had foot drop from the nerve) all the while waiting on nerve regrowth (1"/yr).  2018 looked good with LVE (rookie).  2019 OK, good numbers.  2020 looked pretty bad but so did LVE who was a 2018 defensive rookie of the year finalist and all-pro.  All the Cowboy defense was bad in 2020 (see:Mike Nolan), historically bad.

Jaylon continued to regress in 2021.  Probably the knee and most specifically the nerve along with traumatic arthritis are the culprits.  Smith has lost burst acceleration and lateral movement.  Straight away speed is still good.  Can't cover the pass and slow to catch up with the RB.  LB's need to be making the plays at the LOS not 10 yards down field.  Dallas get's starting LB/Safety Keanu Neal back this week and have a deep stable of LB's.  Smith is expendable along with his tackles 10 yards past the LOS.  Dallas is responsible for his 2021 $7.7M salary.

There you go, all yall need to know.

Pass. He's never been the same since that big knee injury at Notre Dame. He can't change direction or cover, before that injury he was a great athlete and looked at as the next big MLB prospect which he never lived up to. Glad he got paid though bc that injury might've been a dirty hit

Wasn't a real dirty hit.  It was after the whistle and was more of just a push and then *snap* !

Injury is at about 2:30 so ya'll can skip all the propaganda:

Randall.... he will be released and not traded, nobody would be taking on his DAL contract

When I was looking at the notifications from earlier this morning, it said they were considering it. Oops.

The main point still stands tho: y'all think he's going to be cheap and that folks won't bitch for whatever amount he'd get signed for if he came here?

Doubt it.

Yes, two.

It sounds like it's contract related and fall out with Dan Quinn.

Its more than contract related.  He's out of position too often and he's lost one of the things that made him special...  his speed.  He was a liability to the Cowboys and im not surprised they cut ties with him.  This was a smart move on their part because he definitely was overpaid.

Or maybe because he just isnt that good

Smith in a fuging wheelchair is better than ANY MLB on this roster not named Shaq Thompson. He was a pro-bowler, but that is not needed for the panthers, just be better than panthers options.....WHICH HE IS BY MILES.....Shaq missed practice today btw.....

So long as he is not asking for 10 million, panthers 150% need to have a great talk with him. Blowboys are paying him this season, he should come cheap. But who wants a 26year old 100 tack machine?? He had a knee injury in 2016 and we already have CLay Johnston and some ghost named Carter. HARD PASS
