I think I'm ready for PJ

Sam is better than Pickles any day. The problem is that most starting NFL QBs are better than Sam, and that includes Cousins. Most of the teams we'll play this season, excluding rookie QBs, have better QBs. Teddy is better than Sam, so we downgraded to Sam.

I want a much better QB than Sam, and that means we need Watson. Drafting a rookie QB means two more losing seasons. Staying with Sam means we'll never be better than middle of the pack, and often we'll worse.

and I always thought making Sam the plan was predictably dumb.  Had no problem adding him to the roster though.  But he isn’t going to be good.   He isn’t a starting QB.  His flaws showed before NY and now after.  He is what he is.

that said, he is better than Jimmy Clausen.  Not even close.

having time to throw and no one to throw to doesnt really help.  The wr ran lazy routes, didnt get open.  The Viking corners ran better routes than the wr did.

I can't agree with the receivers route running.  Yes the OL is really bad, but they Brady isn't calling anything to challenge the defense.  Those route combos and concepts are elementary at best.

Even look at what the Vikings started doing with Osborn as the game went on.  They weren't getting any production one on one against Taylor, so they started lining them up in trips and doubles and then ran drags across the field where Taylor had to run through traffic and couldn't man his guy up, so he ends up chasing the play.

We do nothing like that, and when we do, Sam doesn't believe what he's seeing and either elects to run or holds the ball until he's sacked.  The playcalling is abysmal and Brady is feeding into Darnold's weaknesses with it, but as I stated, Darnold is bad even when he has time.  That last drive was a bit of luck and an aberration because he isn't willing to take those shots until he is forced to.

I've given Sam the benefit of the doubt but he is now as bad as Clausen was.

I think I'm ready to see if PJ can at least make this offense look semi competent.

This is a really bad take. PJ blows mountain goat. He wouldn’t even be on a roster if it weren’t for his painfully obvious connection to the head coach.

surprised in you Igo. Father Time always wins I guess.

I was against the trade compensation. We gave up way too much for Darnold out of desperation while bidding against ourselves.

This was my take as well in rewatching that play. Lazy routes with lazy scramble drill comebacks.

    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
