So where do we go from here in your opinion?  Does this staff run it back with darnold next year?   Do they draft a qb in the top 10?   Trade?   I just don’t see a way out for this current administration.     They mortgaged a poo load on getting a crappy qb.    Why in the holy fug didn’t they just draft slater?

My fear was Sam being Sam.  There being no QB solution in the draft.   And then them being forced into some sort of Daniel Jones 3rd variation of what they keep doing.

I’m not a believer in Rhule.  I don’t think we go anywhere until he is gone.  Then we actually rebuild our O.  I think the D will be trending in a fine direction.  Rebuilt O means a path forward that isn’t a CMC offense too.

Give him a week practicing with the first string and not being thrown in the play from behind fire.

Won’t matter he isn’t nfl backup  qb material. Much less a starter.

He was like the wild thing pitcher in that movie ..He hit everything  but the dam mascot today. I don’t think a week with the starters is gonna all of a sudden make him accurate

definitely matters, backups don't get many reps with anybody. so to throw someone in who has very little practice reps, no chemistry all so you can "scare" sam darnold, its silly to think they would do an amazing job. keep pj walker out unless they are gonna take him seriously. that means full reps, with the ones etc.

this whole wait until the last minute when the game is over and throw pj walker in the line of fire for no reason thing that matt rhule has going on, has got to stop. rhule has been doing that since last season.

I'm out of pie

What it does seem like is that this staff gets out in front of themselves....like they could have kept TB until after the draft or wait until you see if you can actually get a Stafford or a Watson then go ahead and trade him or let him go w/e.

They done pissed off Gano and TB and even if you care or like them or w/e its not a good look to be burning bridges and doing poo like that.

For real they gambled on their own hubris and have now dug another 2 year hole to dig out of.  We'll be lucky if we score the qb of the future in 2023 at this point. I can't imagine a FA Qb thinking playing for Rhule with zero O-line would be a good business decision

I’m sure practicing with the ones would help build chemistry but it isn’t gonna magically turn him into joe Montana. He’s skipping passes 5 yards short and hitting cheerleaders on the sideline. He’s so inaccurate it’s embarrassing

he wasn’t wildly inaccurate in his one prepped start.  He looked different last year in his start vs being thrown out in pass only football.

and no one is arguing he will be Joe Montana or work his way into being anything of substance.   It’s only an argument that if they prep him the O will move more than what Sam is now doing with it.  Which is Clausen level bad offense essentially the last 3 games minus 1 quarter vs Minny.

Well let’s  see how he does with all this prep work , running for his life and sideshow bob dropping passes.
He honestly shouldn’t be on a nfl roster .. but yah temple

We should have kept teddy.  Drafted slater.  Not give Anderson his new deal, not drafted Marshall instead get more line help.  I could go on but you get the drift.   This group has made mishaps upon mishaps so early on.

This. I'm not sure why we got impatient and didn't allow for a rebuild.

The Teddy decision was either impatience or severely soured relationship with coaches.

We said all the right things. But everything we DID screamed that these guys thought they could be heroes and slap quick fixes on everything. They started out 3-0 and thought they'd accomplished it. Started talking playoffs (insert Jim Mora gif). Started trading future picks for more players. Then the wheels fell off. Now we're careening down the cliff completely out of control.

    • I hope Horn can stay healthy. (I have his jersey.) He is an elite talent when he is healthy. What’s the plan though, do we roll with Horn and a 5th round pick? Are we going to sign Gilmore? This has to be our worst position based off of the injury concerns.
    • Duffy:  (Scheme fit)  Player Summary: This fifth year Tackle will be looking to start for his third full season. He has a thick base, and a tight yet chunky midsection, carrying more of a Guards frame. He plays with a fast twitch using his quick feet, making him quick off the snap, fast to the 2nd level, showing good recovery potential. His foot movement bolsters his sturdy lower body which he uses to drive defenders out of their gaps or effectively turn them, as well as stalemating some of the stronger lineman. Additionally, it allows him to quickly arrive and seal a pull or trap. On second level blocks he is dangerous, once he lays his body on the defender, they are rendered ineffective. In zone blocks, he quickly crosses the defenders’ shoulders and can kick out with relative ease. Christian plays with fire and pride in pass pro, competing hard to the whistle. He possesses a solid Anchor that holds up when he is out maneuvered and stands firm against bull rushes holding up with formidable leverage.   His slow turn ability in pass pro, allows rushers to arc to the QB. This also affects blitzers or delayed rushers coming from either side as he struggles to pick up the second rusher, opening a quick path to the backfield. He struggles to adjust to defenders throughout the game, causing mistakes to constantly repeat. His biggest weakness is with UOH, and wide hand placement. This affects EVERY facet of his game. On run plays and screens, while he is quick to the defender and provides a successful initial pop, it is often negated by his ability to maintain the block, allowing LB’s to fight off blocks before the ball carrier arrives. In pass pro, he is a decently executed move away from giving up his outside shoulder exposing a short path to the QB, and loss of the ability to mirror.  Scheme Fit: Zone Scheme with quick passes in an RPO/Possession, or heavy run Offense   Dyson Jr. (small school sleeper)
    • That Lawrence draft was suppose to be great. He is the only QB from the 1st still with his team before the rookie contracts are even over.  I definitely wouldn’t want Bo Nix, Penix has injury flags and is old, Daniels didn’t look great into year 5, JJ wasn’t asked to do much in that offense. These guys are far from being flawless prospects. Let’s see how they turn out.
