Steve Smith said the reason for the drops was cause they were hospital balls, Chris Simms also eluded to it.

There are always passes that can get the WRs hurt because we don’t know what the defense is running. It’s up to the QB to process what’s happening and throw his guy open or make the next read. It’s up to the OC to make adjustments if there isn’t anything there. We are failing at both.

How do you expect the QB to process what is happening when he has instant pressure to deal with?

Peyton Manning in his prime would look like a scrub behind this Oline.

Darnold has the 8th highest average time to throw in the league. Teddy's was among the lowest last year. Yeah, the OL sucks. But Darnold isn't getting the ball out fast enough oftentimes too.

Football is a tough sport where players get hurt all the time. It's a bullshit excuse and expecting a qb to determine after the snap in 2 seconds to determine if the route is going to get the wr hurt if he throws to him.  On top of that he has to check every route to make sure the next guy isn't going to get clocked as well.

It is complete and utter horse poo to suggest it is somehow the qbs job to protect the wr on every play.

What is not bullshit is expecting the receiver to catch the ball when it hits them in the hands.

We can all agree the oline is bad. It's worse than last year but 2020 was still not good either and Bridgewater's mobility masked some of that. That being said why didn't we have these issues and talk of hospital balls when Teddy was qb? Our top two wideouts each put up 1k last year with the same oc and a similar oline talent wise. No Sam is not in an ideal or particularly fair situation but at some point we have to stop pointing fingers in every direction and see some of this is the same crap that went on with the Jets.

Well, why don't we take a look at the teams that have allowed 16+ sacks this season(Bears, Titans, Broncos, Browns, Jets, Seahawks, Panthers, Raiders, Dolphins, Bengals, Ravens). Those are in order of most sacks allowed, BTW. Let's pick an arbitrary rating number....QBR(DVOA isn't updated for this week yet). Let's see how those teams QB's are doing and how they rank.

Lamar Jackson 62.7
Russell Wilson 61.9
Derek Carr 59.5
Andy Dalton 57.5
Ryan Tannehill 57.2
Joe Burrow 55.9
Teddy Bridgewater 52.5
Sam Darnold 47.1
Tua Tagovailoa 42.0
Baker Mayfield 41.6
Geno Smith 34.7
Justin Fields 23.2
Zach Wilson 22.1

Now....see which end of the scale Darnold is at?

His struggles with processing are so incredibly obvious. I don't see why people fail to see this.

He was “hurried” around 1 out of 3 dropbacks. So 66% of the time he had time and a clean pocket (not great I know). Our line played serviceable against the Vikings. Eagles was a whole level of awful. So do our WRs suck all the sudden or is our line terrible or is the OC that we liked last year awful now? That’s a lot of excuses to protect one individual. Our line isn’t good, but played well enough last Sunday. Our WRs were considered a strength this season. Joe Brady is having some issues, but part of it is also not trusting his QB. I’m fine with moving on from Brady and Darnold if this continues.

The offense wasn't so predictable last year with a different QB. I honestly do think it's largely a QB issue.

Lol it wasn't predictable because Brady was fresh from college.

Zimmer has two years of tape on him. Zimmer is a defensive mastermind.

Our main issue is Brady.

I am wondering if this is because we can't run our playbook because CMC is out or because we can't trust Darnold or because we can't trust the OL.

I wonder if that has changed from the first three games to the last three games?

O line wasn't this bad last year  this might be the worst line we've ever had.

Any deep ball for one. He has been very inaccurate on throws going longer than 30 yards. Brady and Rhule are screaming for more downfield passing since they got here since we have the WR's for it and they still can't get it.

Physically he can throw them, but he has horrible timing and can't hit receivers in stride

Really he hit Ian for 40 on a dime.

Hit DJ for about 30 perfectly.

Has a bomb TD to Robbie.
