The concerning things about all this...

..is that Sam Darnold, despite all his faults, was asked to play this game when he "passed" concussion protocol and had an injured shoulder (non throwing arm). When all week you had PJ lining up and practicing with the 1's and Rhule decides to put Sam in there. I'm not making excuses for Sam, players are going to want to play but this has shades of Rivera and Cam when Cam was playing hurt because Rivera would not swallow his pride. Not comparing Cam to Darnold, just the situation. 

 

We all know what Sam is, but Rhule hitched his wagon on to him and how we see what happens. At this point, Rhule needs to swallow his pride and just shut Darnold down. Admit you made a mistake with Darnold. Move on, give Darnold the mercy kill and send him to IR. Unfortunately this season is more over than anything else. Just ride with PJ the rest of the season, that Line is in shambles, so it does not matter who is back there, correction anyone but Darnold at least.

It may well speak to just how bad PJ Walker is. We'll see soon.

At this point I don't trust Rhules qb evaluation. Let's see the qbs on the PS. Nothing to lose since we're already doing that.

Panthers haven't had a viable backup QB on the roster since Derek Anderson left.  How long ago was that, 5 or 6 years now?  Likely had a big role to play in Rivera's termination.

Rhule would likely be facing charges for dereliction of duty if he were in the military.  Major malpractice if he were in healthcare, but no, Matt is only being paid millions to run a football organization and after almost two seasons, Rhule still hasn't found anyone capable enough to play the most important position on the roster, much less that person's backup.

I dunno. With some of the commands I've seen, he might've been promoted. Just gotta be a kiss ass. Which he is, so... 

Our backup QB wasn't even on a practice squad when Rhule came into the league. Just saying.

Give PJ 4 games, and if it's not working give Morgan a shot. Admit that you screwed up with Darnold and see if you have someone serviceable on the roster instead of making another desperate trade in the offseason.
