what kind of hypothetical is this. the probability of PJ dropping that statline is near non-existent.

He completed 70% of his passes in his lone start and the WRs had more yardage with him than any other game in the Matt Rhule era.

People act like PJ is Clausen.  He isn’t.  He is super aggressive.  I mean with his play style it could happen.

He was playing the shitty Detroit lions. He’s about to play the #4 defense in the nfl.

im still not convinced cam doesn’t play Sunday until I see him on the sidelines with no pads on or we hear he’s not traveling with the team this week.

If anyone witnesses said stats it means there is a new and powerful hallucinogenic recreational drug on the street.

Those aren’t even Mike White numbers we talking about.   That shouldn’t of happened either.

best a bad QB looks is the first couple starts he is trotted out there.   We see that over and over.

If he starts playing well, you bench him.  If he starts playing poorly, you bench him.  If he starts breathing, you bench him.  If he starts dancing to crocodile rock in a vintage 60s dress, you bench him.  If he shaves his mustache, you bench him.  If he keeps his mustache, you bench him.

You don't pay Cam Newton $4.5-$10Mil for half a season to sit behind PJ Walker. No matter how well PJ plays this is now Cams team for the remainder of the season. Cam starts against WFT. Bet

I think they're paying Cam that much to win games, and if his presence lights a fire and elevates PJ, and possibly the rest of the team, resulting in notable improvement and wins then it's still money well spent.

Odds of that happening at very slim. But if things suddenly click, why mess with it?

Are you negating the 2 ints in the redzone and the defense pitching a shutout..

That would be Rhule doing Cam dirty and sticking it to Tepper IMO.    Starting that is.  You could roll him out in the red zone I guess to pound it in.

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
