The Week of the Chinn

This is his week to shine.

Heinecke is a pretty aggressive guy in spurts but will get funneled into the short passing offense.  For example, WFT had that crazy long drive of these 4-6 yard gains last week against TB but he still from time to time was making those more agressive shots.  That game had Winfield Jr. all over the field with a banged up TB secondary.  Our defense is quite a bit different.  And one of the more unique/frustrating ones for QBs in the league (I'd recommend anyone into podcasts start listening to "The Athletic Football Show", had a great breakdown this past week.  Their shows on the 15, 17, and today all cover it a bit.

Our fleet of DB defense is going to give Heinecke fits methinks and he's going to forget the silent assassin we've had this year in Chinn.  This may be a game where Jeremy pops off on the stat sheet, gets a sack, int, maybe even a greater impact.  I know we've migrated him back from the LOS this season but I think we've got a prime opportunity against WFT with Shaq back and Jackson, Gillmore & Bouye playing at such a high level.  Could be a really fun game to watch for fans of defensive scheming.

Chinn has been quiet af, time for him to step up.

He's been pretty damn good IMO.  Chinn has been shadowing guys, a lot of the balls we intercept come from his area where he's blanketing a guy where Donte or whoever swoops with the right angle of play at the ball.

He's been highly effective.

I’ve been wanting to talk about Chinn has he be quiet some this year because of the different position he has been playing or what?

Yeah pretty much.  Hes still been all over the field.  Its tough to have those big splash plays when hes not constantly around the LOS like last year.  Hes still playing at a very, very high level.

He's been ''quiet'' because he has not been aske to play a primary box roll where he has to make tackles left and right.

Considering he is playing a primary roll and it seems ''quiet'' it's because he's played good coverage and has not been giving up big plays, we also have a really good front 7 and that is limiting guys from getting to the 3rd level of the defense where he's been more this year.

I have seen him fly in and make tackles, and also prevent bigger gains when guys have gotten past the 2nd level. You'd find me hard pressed to say he's not having a good season, he just doesn't have to do as much as last season since we are improved at the LB position.

    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
    • Well, if they know Tepper wants to keep Bryce there is an an implied safety net there in case he fails. A possibility that he will be empathetic and •maybe• not fire them.  If they go against that and bring in someone else and that fails they are in a much worse spot.  IMO.  And another factor may be that after all those years of instability and musical chairs pre Bryce there will likely be a feeling of security in knowing what they have.   Kind of like settling just to keep from going through the process all over again.     IOW I think he really needs to fug up bad to lose his job and change our course.
