Yeah our talent is lacking on the offensive line but our coaching of the line is horrible.  Al Wallace on WFNZ didn’t want to blast our current coaches but he heavily hinted that if Moton is playing bad it may not be all the players.   Matsko has the Skins line looking good again even without elite players.  He doesn’t have Trent Williams and let go of Moses Moody and a couple others but was able to get Charles Leno after getting cut from Bears.  How were the Panthers not all over that in a clear cap issue move by Bears?

Slater on this team or drafting a bunch of others won’t matter if our coaching stinks.   We need Fitterer or someone other than Rhule to make coaching hires.   We miss John Matsko.

WFT guards and tackles are ranked in the top 5 at their positions… both guards are top 5. It isn’t just coaching…. The talent is there

I did a write up on them last week with sources and stats to support their level of talent. WFT has the best run line in the nfl and top 5 passing

It's because Joe Brady isn't an O-line or RBs coach, just a WR coach only by position. He knows nothing about about the trenches, but our WRs aren't producing either, which suggests he has poor knowledge about any part of the offense. An offensive coordinator needs to have an O-line scheme to not only run block, but to pass protect, with a million assignments for each position, for different defensive looks. Brady's offensive plan looks like, " it's either this way or no way". Which we seem to be going to nowadays.

Talent and coaching is an issue here. They can't find it and they wouldn't know what to do with it anyways.

Also, expecting Fritts to bring in good olinen is hilarious. That dude is 0-4 last offseason at this point.

Nothing is going to change with this crew, they are all awful.

Yeah but also good coaching. Rivera/Hurney left this team depleted but imo coaching hasn't helped.

Washington is also on their 5th center of the season and their line looks worlds better.

Exactly. Our front office decisions especially with the oline have hurt us but there's no excuse to be all time levels of bad that's on coaching too. It's all been 🗑

Personal Opinion: A big part (maybe the biggest part) of our protection problem lies with Rhule's concept of how to build an offensive line.

The primary trait Rhule wants in an offensive lineman is versatility, the ability to play more than one position so that the line can be shuffled if needed. And when we went looking for linemen in free agency and the draft, that's what we were trying to find.

Mind you, versatility is a marvelous thing to have in a backup, but your starters should be guys that can lock down one spot and anchor there. Outside of Taylor Moton, I'm not sure we have anybody who fits that description.

As it stands now, almost the whole line is made up of guys who bear the title "jack of all trades, master of none".

And the results speak for themselves...

nobody and i mean NOBODY misses john matsko. we were having these same discussions with him here. it must be the fact that these players hate charlotte, the owner sucks, or the turf is that bad.
